Probs with v0.16. Screen goes black then the following message:
The instruction at "0x00435dff" referenced memory at 0x00000000.
The memory could not be "read"
Click "OK" to terminate the program, Cancel to Debug.

I have wink2k and it works fine for me.

P800, geforce2 mx, 256megs of ram, win2k service pack 2.

Is this another case of screen size mess up?
The error messages with it makes it sounds like it isn't though

Would not work on Win Me (Dual boot) either. Screen size on both is 1400 X 1028.

I get hit when i forget my video card doesn't support 24 bit, and i have to go 16 or 32...and also, as long as you are running in full screen, it doesn't have to be your screen size you set it to, just a supported screen size.

Oops, just double checked that, and for some reason that didn't work!
I can run it in my desktop size, no problem, but i tried in 640x480x32. anmd it screwed up : ( (got passed the start screen fine, but the enter/save screen was messed up and only displayed a few walls of the dungeon beyond)

Gab, what graphics card do you have??

Works fine for me - Win2k GeForce 2, laptop. I switched the colors to 32 but left the resolution as it was, even though my desktop is 1024*768.

All three machines I have tried use ATI graphics cards of one sort or another. All machines run version 0.13, but will not run 0.15 or 0.16. I will see if I can try it on a non-ATI machine. I do not have version 0.14 to try out <p><HR><B>Graham,</B> <I>www.gab2001uk.com</I>

I too have an ati onboard, and apart from the colour trip up it works fine. HAve you tried the 'auto' setting in the config file?

It sounds like you aren't editing your config file like you need to. When I said I changed it to 32 bit I am referencing the line in the config.txt file that looks like:

SCREEN_MODE&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 640x480x24

not the resolution of my desktoip. As long as you are in full screen mode the resolution of your desktop should be irrelevent. The reason I think this is the case is because I think about v 14 or 15 is when he changed from using automatic to defining it in the config. You can go back to automatic by changint the line to

SCREEN_MODE&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp AUTOMATIC

Thanks all. I have played around with the settings in the config.txt file as suggested, but it makes no difference. I have now tried a non-ATI machine and still crashes at the start. I do occasionally get a message like "Cannot set display mode 640x480" or similar, but usually it is either a page fault or the memory can't be read. All the machines I have access to at home and work are set up on similar networks, with similar software, so I am beginning to wonder if something is interfering. (eg Norton Internet security will crash VB programs using MAPI controls unless script blocking is turned off). I have also tried closing all tasks running in the background.
I shall shortly be doing a clean install on a new machine, so will test RTC on this before I load any software on it. <p><HR><B>Graham,</B> <I>www.gab2001uk.com</I>
