Black orange

Is that orange from sample Orange dungeon meant to be black orange? When it lies on the ground, it is orange and looks like orange with leaf, but when I pick it or place it anywhere in the inventory, it has complete black shape.

Erm - no. Black objects are a result of the bitmap loading sequence failing. 99% of the time this is due to DirectX failing to load the bitmap, which in turn is due to it / Windows thinking there isn't enough memory. Can you try rebooting you box and see if the problem persists?

If the problem still persists then it's possible that I've just messed up the V0.20 install package ;-)

I found this interesting topic: <a href="http://pub50.ezboard.com/freturntochaos ... 7.topic</a>

It seems you need to recompile Orange again. BTW 512MB RAM + 1G swap (my computer) ought to be enough for everyone :-)

I just downloaded and checked this, and it's fine on my machine (Win XP, 512MB Ram)

I've just retested on mine, and it works fine there too.

There are some very odd bugs in the Windows / DirectX code and the loadbitmap call fails for seemingly no good reason every now and again. Rebooting Windows and trying again seems to solve it though.

I am sorry but now my XP had (again!!!) Blue Screen Of Death so I finally rebooted. First what I tried was Orange dungeon and orange is still black.
It is very suspicious, because I play DM-RTC dungeon and I am on the 3rd level and I've never any problems, but that black orange from Orange dungeon always appears.
Is it possible to debug the DX loadbitmap function if it really failed?
My desktop is 1024x768x32 ATI RAGE Fury Pro and I didn't touch config.txt file. But what is weird - only orange makes me problems.

You could try updating your graphics card drivers--some of the ATI Rage drivers are notoriously buggy.
