I guess this isn't a bug--I'm just being picky!

In FTL DM, the party can only move every other frame, unless they are all wearing Boots of Spped, in which case they can move every frame.

RTC seems to work very differently--wearing boots of speed basically negates the yellow level of overburdenment. But it doesn't negate the red level. This basically means that in RTC there is no benefit to wearing boots of speed if none of your party are overburdened, and certainly no point if you're in the red.

It's a fair enough implementation if the boots always negate one level of overburdenment, but for this to be consistent, if you're in the red, wearing the boots should put you in the yellow.

However, is it possible to add a true benefit to wearing the boots regardless of current burden? I realise that it's very difficult to tell objectively, but certainly there appears to be no real difference in the speed of moving about if the party are wearing boots or not.

Huh, I always thought that Boots of Speed will decrease load level by one - if hero is grey, Boots of Speed has no effect. When load status is yellow - Boots of Speed causes hero moves as grey. And finally if load status is red, BoS causes hero moves as yellow. I think I did not see any difference when all party members was grey between normal boots and Boots of Speed. There was necessary to wear BoS to all party members? I think there was only 2 BoS in DM.

There are 4 pairs of speedboots in DM, and if all of your characters were wearing them while being unencumbered you actually moved faster than normally possible, for that reason boots 4all were the best items in the entire game, for no other magic allowed you to do that.

Yes, this is correct. 4 pairs of boots worn by the party allows them to move every frame, instead of every other. Incidentally, DM ran at 6 FPS!

Yes, a 'boots of speed' party moves as fast as theron : )

Where did you find boots for a party of 4 ?
I remember vaguely: One in the giant spider lair, another one in a locked (sapphire key ?) room on the way to the firestaff.
Can the green elven boots be a speed boots ?

one behind a flase wall pasted the plate armour in the scorpion lair, one through false walls beside the 'enlarge my view' bit on level 11

dunno for CSB...

as for the elven boots, i think they just oncrease internal weight or strength characteristic, not anything to do with speed
