Would running DM from a "virtual hard drive" in WinUAE be better than running it from one of its "floppy drives"? Would it load any faster? I noticed it takes just about the same time it took on my old 500 to load and save games. How can I speed up the loading?

Also, WinUAE seems to be taking *alot* of memory. For example, after playing DM for say, 30-45 minutes, if I push F12 and go into the settings, I can adjust everything, but when I'm done and I push O.K., WinUAE tends to either freak out or lock up. Then when I push Alt+Ctrl+Del to end the task, it says "system is dangerously low on resources"-meaning I'm fresh out of memory. What's the best setting to keeping a healthy amount of memory in my PC even after hours of playing DM? I have 128 megs of ram BTW.

Well, unless you have a cracked version of DM that works from an Amiga HD, you won't be able to try this anyway. The original DM had a copyprotected boot loader that would not boot the game if it was copied to the HD. You could try it, but it probably won't work, and even if it does I doubt you would notice any speed increase.

Why do you need to be adjusting settings in WinUAE using F12 while you're playing a game? It's really not recommended to do this once a game has been loaded and is running (unless you need to switch save game floppies for example - and that will definitely crash DM). If you want to change settings, the best thing to do is to use F12 to quite WinUAE, then run it again and change the settings in the new session. I use this method, and have never had any memory errors or crashes with it, and I have 96MB RAM. And coming out of WinUAE after several hours of playing DM, I always still have 80-90% systems resources free. Bottom line: don't use F12 to change the settings!
