Volunteers wanted

...for the team-dungeon:

1. 1 level is totally free
2. balancing:
a monsters (hitpoints, nr)
b items (shop money, shop items, ...)
3. the end

any1 who wants to do one of these tasks, just cry.
i thought of beowuuf for the shop and zyx for the ending (flame), because they started with these ;) . I'd do the monster hp/nr by myself. then we only have to invent a name and playtest it and voila!

i'd like to do the ending at the end (quite logical, no?)
It depends on what we do in the dungeon.
My orginal idea was to collect something to extinguish it,
like Sar potions for example. The flame would have 10000hp, so it would be the only way to get rid of it.
With the potion, the flame would be killed (teleported away), and when stepping on his pad, the end pad would be triggered.
Or the formula to put it out could several kinds of potions (vi, vi bro and ful for example).
Comments?

I like this idea! You could have a scroll later saying 'legend of great flame fueling ...whatever evil the champions are defeating' and 'the means to defeating it thought to be lost now...the secret of the sar potion was a key ingredient...'

on level 13 you could have a fire pit representing a great couldron, with an invisible object teleporter. Place a few createable potions and the sar potion in it, and you get out the ZO potion, that is the only means of destroying the great flame

I think it's a case of once all the levels are built, play test to see what is too easy or hard - but yeah, i'llsee where the money needs to go to blanace the game

DM is still full of lessons!

About he the monsters HP,
I think we should study it in DM:
there is a very reasonable progression through the levels. Most of the time the first creture of a new kind encountered has 50% or 75% of the mean HP, while the last monsters of the levels are sometimes 150%-200% tougher.
Each 2 or 3 levels the general HP mean seems to be duplicated.

The cauldron is a good idea, I like it.

i like both ideas. dungeonv9 is done, but freedrive doesnt allow me somehow to access the dmdungeons account. in replacement, i sent the dungeon to beowuuf :)

Yes, it was being funny to me earlier when i tried to upload/download things

i'll try later tonight to get things sorted

One thing that needs to be checked is different playing styles and food - training vs fighting through without rest

Actually, the hack and slash levels could be a good balance...anyone bombing through the first few levels (which is possible) would come up for a short sharp shock reaching ian's level...intense fighting! At least tbis way you have to build up a few party levels for later

THe dungeon is now uploaded (dungeonv9.zip)

Oh, to answer a quetion - the dagger holes that seem to be fighting firestaff+ on zyx's hive and maze level aren't. Dmute has the wrong hex value for this..it is actually firing arrows (played it through a few times. so know)

Just playing through the game...got to the end of the no surprises - liked the four pit puzzle! that was a head scratcher : )

The worms need to be hex edited toavoid a bug, and also, you you don't need to clone the switches yet (each level can have about 50 switches), plus it leasds to a few odd monsters floating abourt and disappearing

So, what works needs to be done?

Ian's level 9
MY level 11 tweaking
Something for level 12
Zyx's training room/ending
Adding money/changing monster hp
Playtesting

Anything else?

id playtest, but i think that should do at least 3 ppl, though the playing style of beowuuf and me are very similar (no training but leaving nothing out)...
id also throw the money around and fiddle a bit with items/bottles ... for that, id need an list what u can buy at the shop and the price of each item (to be honest, i still got no clue of dmute to find this out by myself - really!).
i think, if i did lvl 12, that wouldnt be a good idea...too much levels of me around so far. i even copied 1 level of my old dungeons and 1 of my newest (which comes out SOON)

Haven't heard from LMB for a while...hello?

I'll mail you a list of shop items and costs. The beholder level needs to be toned down...I die pretty much instantly as the gigglers keep generating beholders round me the second I got there, but is a good level apart from that (unfortunately you can get the other three items needed to complete it earlier too..need to put a few more checks in earlier pevels)

The rest of the levels seem straightforward and cool

I even have an idea for a storyfor it, which I'll put in for comment/ripping apart...

So zyx, you are next, right? : )

OK, I take the dungeon for only a short while.
I should upload it again this very saturday, with a surprise.

No time for the dungeon, but the surprise is uploaded in freedrive. Codename: graphics.zip. Unzip it in the dungeon.dat folder.
No new graphics, though.

That's too cool

an editor?

I'm about to finish a very small editor to make it easier for the graphics.dat.
But i only have Visual fox Pro 6 and no MSDN libraries (the manual and help), so it will be very simple.

A first beta version is done, called "namedit.zip".
Nothing to be proud of, I didn't even hide the VFP desktop, but it works and it's small.
Please tell me about required dlls.
You can send me feedback but I won't be working on it in the next 20 days...

I tried namedit.exe but just get an alert box 'Visual FoxPro Support Libraries Required.' What do I need to get this to run??? Couldn't find anything on the Microsoft site...

Well, I can upload a whole setup, but it's about 3Mg.
(You will need to install it only once, though.)
Look in the freedrive account...

I can't upload it. "Server not found" it says... I'll try later
You can also search the web with "download VFP6 runtime environment"

or try this direction:
