OK...what is the difference between a fireball (FUL IR) and a lightning bolt (OH KATH RA)? When hit by one, the fireball appears to do more damage, yet has a lower mana cost! I figured that fireballs cause less damage based on anti-fire and lightning bolts on anti-magic, but technically they're both magical attacks!

Alrighty then, I'm back!!!! got kind of side tracked with Civ2 over the past few months...
Anyway, D: Ido the best thing to do is to use Fireballs all of the time!!!! the last time i played DM i don't think i cast a single lightening bolt, never even picked up the Storm Ring!??!?
So, go for Fireballs and Big Swords!!!! You can't go wrong there!!!

So how is everyone? how's the Dmute dungeon making coming along? has anyone done a working version of csb yet?
later, Oldman

Each creature is affected differently by the spells. I think the knights are more sensible to lightnings than fireballs

Hi, yeah I remember lightning attacks proving to be most effective on those damn knights (well not as good as having them fall down a pit!!!) Other than this instance I nver used lightning only fireballs.

ok here's what ive learned from playing the game:
fireballs in general are more useful, they cost less mana.
SOME monsters are more affected by lightning though, offhand i remember knights and stone golems.
also, i think lightning causes a lot of damage to the one monster it hits, and much less to the rest of the group. this is similar with fireballs, but more drastic. for example, ive been able to kill a screamer struck with a single low level lightning bolt, but struck by the same level fireball isnt quite enough to kill him...
