Is there a bug in DM in or around where the rats regenerate? I killed a load of them to power up, left the 'drum sticks' in a pile, and now there's colours spinning in mid air. If I throw anything or cast a fireball at it the game freezes.

There are many mosnter generator things in DM, and I believe there's one in the rat level.

It seems that you face one of the many bugs that haunt DM. I didn't face the same problem with the rat lair on level 9 but other cases of unusual graphic disturbances (freezed monsters, blocked fireballs, multiple spells casting at once and so on...). The only advice I can give is not to save a game when the game goes mad (like you describe it) in order to avoid polluting your saved game.
Which version of the game do you use ? ST, Amiga or PC ? I remember that some cracked ST versions had some bugs in...(dunno about the other version..)If the problem keeps appearing, try to get another version.

How about you run a virus checker on it...
