I wonder whether some of the DM/CSB-Community would like to meet in some messenger from time to time. If this were so, feel free to post it or to send me a mail with your hotmail-email(+nick), ICQ-Nr.(+nick)/AIM-screenname, yahoo-ID and/or t-online-nick and I will send you mine. Please also mention whether you would like me to forward these datas to other community members or not.

Mine is allan00nz for yahoo! messenger. Anyone can add it if they want and you can ford it to whoever you want.

i dont use any chattool except irc/quakenet.
would be a nice idea to make a dm channel there.

Although it is incorporated in Trillian which I use as messenger, I've never been using IRC, but yes, it'd be nice to have a dm channel. So how are we gonna start it, will you see to that, Amber?

we need 6 ppl at once in a channel, to have some L dude inside.

I don;t understand this ICQ thing!!! surely Y! Messenger is easier?? It looks like a load of lists to me!

Well everybody is using a different messenger, most people use the one they first stumbled across, which is due to Outlook often MSN, and I don't expect anyone to change his prefered messenger just because I want to meet other DM people in the web.
I personally use Trillian which is supporting MSN, ICQ/AIM, Y! and IRC and rarely check the T-Online Messenger which supports T-Online, MSN and ICQ but is full of bugs (as are many tools from that company), so I do not care whether someone is using ICQ or Y! and I don't think that Y! is better than ICQ.

I have access to all four of the main ones (aim, msm, y! and icq), but have yet to get around to downloading trillian to manage it all
I'm not usually live on any of my accounts unless I am talking to my gf (so not really sociable then!), but if anyone ever names a time and a method for chat i'll be there : )

i will not install one of the other messengers, because they are only bombardement with advertise. irc is fine, install it, some small setup (i cn explain this, if wanted), then u can idle there the whole day without losing resources or beeing bothered by advertiments. we are all in one chatroom, thats fine, too :)

Well. it won't hurt if you explain it, Amber. But: I find Trillian really fine.

irc is kinda easy.
get the newest copy at www.mirc.com
unzip and install
when started, youll find a nice hammer symbol leading you to the options.
on connect options, you choose:
quakenet random server
then enter your nickname below and connect.
when beeing online, the first thing to do is: /msg bng-amber hi
sometimes my nick is bng-amber, sometimes amber.

Only a few people were willing to mail theit IDs, so I decided to post at least mine, so DM-nuts who are interested in messenger contact can add me to their contact list:

Amber: Well actually I've downloaded mIRC once, but I never bothered to find out how to make it work.
Currently I mainly use Trillian, which also supports IRC, but then, I still "got no clue or irc".
Currently I do not have the time to get that clue for myself, but if you're willing to help me, I'll be glad to join.

its only 6 tiny steps:
start mirc (or trillian)
go to otions
choose ANY quakenet-server
type in name etc
connect
type: /join #dungeonmaster

irc is some kind of tool u have always running as long as you are connected to the internet (thats 24h a day for me)...simple idling is okay :)

If you are like me and couldn't find the server in your list, add it as 'irc.quakenet.org'

So, I used th Connection manager in Trillian and added to the empty console irc.quakenet.eu.org, then chose "Join Channel" in the IRC menu and entered #dungeonmaster. That's it? (I got no confirmation nor anything else).
For Nickname, Username, Alternate and User information, can you enter anything you like or are there certain rules?

I made Trillian automatically join #dungeonmaster. May we meet soon there.

Hmmm, I just reinstalled my machine, and when I try to /join #dungeonmaster, all I get is
Cannot join #: (+k) Channel key required.

So what's wrong?

dont know, sounds like a trillian-problem, there is no channelkey :)
