New Monsters

Hello to all, (especially people with more computer literacy than myself)
I do not want this to be a discussion about the ethics of new monsters (check out the CSBWin forum for that), as this is primarily a private exercise for myself. I have successfully extracted graphics from the graphics.dat file using DMDecode for DM-PC so now I can edit them as they are now bitmap files. The question is: how do I reverse this process so the new files can be read by the DM engine (ie back to the graphics.dat file?). Of course I am willing to share any new drawings at request and I am not embarking on a new DM mission to take over the game (!), but it would be interesting if I could, even if only my family and I benefit.
Thanks
If anybody has any ideas for new monsters but do not want to undertake the task of drawing them then I am happy to try and turn peoples thoughts into substance. Be aware though that the original monster characteristics will be the same, so technically they would not be 'new' but redrawn. I say this because this can be limiting in certain respects (ie a Demon redrawn as something icy would look a little strange if it starting launching fireballs at you)
