I have a problem with sound output on Windows XP with an onboard VIA 097 sound chip. I have VDMS installed and I want to run Dungeon Master! I don“t know what values to make for "IRQ" "DMA" etc.!! Can anybody help??

You must know that the game sounds normally work only in DOS mode, and on my PC with an AWE32, only the adlib option works, not the SB.

yes on my PC Adlib is the only working sound option, too! But the sound is weird. There is something wrong with the values in "IRQ" "DMA" etc. Do you use VDMS, too?? or something else?

I suggest using dosbox... I didn't have to set anything up whatsoever... see another post somewhere about it for details.

Actually, DM works properly with DosBox V0.57 although it is a bit slow then (at least with 1GHz an no other program running).
Better is to use it with Win98 and create a link to start it in MS-Dos mode or make batch file that starts some mouse.com etc. before dm and make a MS-Dos link for that one.
Or, if you have a later Win than 98 use PartitionMagic/BootMagic to create a boot menu with the option to start MS-Dos instead of Win.
