Ive read that when you take back the firestaff back to the begining something else happens coul anyone tell me what happens

Before you use the firestaff to remove the gem, take it to the beginning door. It would be cooler for you to do it yourself rather then have someone tell you what happens. Actually, I have not tried this yet.
