Dungeon Master Problem

I played DM on the old Atari computer when it first came out, and completed it, finding it great fun to play. Recently I got hold of a version for the PC with good sound called Return To Chaos. Unfortunately, I am stuck!! :) I'm on the floor with the floating eyes and the SNAKE pillars you have to pass through. There is one key and two doors, I've explored and found the two doors together that open with pressure plates. Between them is another door that needs a key. I've been right back to the beginning and cannot find a key for it. I hope this isn't a coding problem in the version of the game. Can someone tell me where the key is please? Thanks.

Hawkslayer.

The keys for this are the keys of b, both the two doors and the way out (so you can do both ways, or just one)
One set of monsters (floating eyes in one, skeletons in another) carry the key - at i guess i would say you have killed the skeletons, but not seen the key amoungst the skeleton possessions
In return to chaos its harder to spot the grey keys on the floor
So just go over every singe square aroudn where you killed the eyes and skeletons, and you should find it

Do you mean the skeletons that appear at the bottom of the stairs when the eyes also appear, before you enter the SNAKE? There was only one skeleton and I killed it. I've searched the location where I killed it and can find nothing. Any more ideas?

There will be three oother skeletons...one of them will have a key (they are behind the right door).
One of the flotaing eyes behind the left door would also have had a key

Sorry, i forgot about the ungrouped monsters in RTC!

MAN! I've searched that floor until I'm seeing double. I cannot find the key I need anywhere. It just is not there! Looks as though I'm going to have to go back to a much earlier save and try again. Is it possible that the floor resets itself when you leave it and come back? Thus the key disappears?

They are damn hard to see. When you play again, just look out for a key in a floating eye in the left door, or a key in a skeleton throgu hthe right door...plus its not necessary to do both sides, unless you wanted some extra food and combat

Update on this situation. Hooray! I went back to an earlier save on level 6, the RA level. After working my way back down to the SNAKE floor. I took the left door, killed the skeletons that appeared, searched and there was the key! This didn't happen when I was working from a save at the top of the stairs down to the level. Something funny about this version of the game, methinks. Anyway, I've now worked my way down to the clockwise room and am going round in circles trying to find the keys in there. Having real fun playing this great game again after all these years.

I don't think it is this game version that has been your problem. But if you don't search the remnants of killed enemies immedeately, it is difficult indeed to find out afterwards, where the key has been left. I am absolutely sure that the game does not reset any items.

Sorry to have to say that I'm once again in a keyless position in the CLOCKWISE room. I'm sure, from playing the original game many times before, albeit a long time ago, :) that a key should appear in this room. No matter what I do in here, the key is not appearing. I guess I got everything else in the room, the footplate, the morningstar and the sabre, but no key. I've even checked on the walkthrough, (I hated doing that) done exactly what it says in there, but still no key! Any more ideas to help me onwards? Can someone talk me through exactly what I need to do to make the key turn up, and exactly where it will appear?

Its a grey iron key, so it might be hard to spot. When you come down the stairs from level 10 (or 9, if that's what people call it around here), go left to the corner (with the staff), go right to the second corner, and rght again to the third corner. This should teleport you right to the key. Good luck!
