Hi everyone, I thought you all might like to know something spiffy: the SNES emulator Snes9x can now handle the DSP emulation Dungeon Master requires. This means that it is now playable....tried it myself, and it works great. ^.^ This is as of Snes9x version 1.40 (the latest version)

To download go here: http://www.lysator.liu.se/snes9x/

It works on Windows, Linux, and Solaris. A MacOS X version is also available through a link on that site.

Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool! Downloading now -- finally, I can grab graphics shots for this game and I don't have to buy a capture card to grab it from my SNES! :-)

Yep, seems to work fine! Got killed straight away and it's a bit fiddly with keyboard, but definitely works. Thanks for the update DragonGirl.

Great news!
I will also be able to add screenshots. And it will be easy now to capture all the musics in .spc format (very small files -> easy to store and download).

Ok, for downloading the SPC music files, it's still limited -- snes9x only allows you to dump the data once it's been loaded by the game, so you still have to play the whole game to get to the music trigger points so that they can be saved.

Unless someone knows a better way of doing this, or has cheat codes that will transport you to other parts of the dungeon, this will take some time!

I agree, but this will be easier than playing 'blindly', that is whithout seeing the dungeon by only using maps (this is possible, I fought my way down to level 2 with that method!).

Ages ago I drew the SNES specific maps after playing the game through all the way, and mapping by hand. Christophe, let me know if you'd like them for playing purposes (but please don't publish them).

Here's a page with cheats for SNES which might make it a bit easier:

I must say, I have been whiting over a year to play snes-dm on my pc.
Also snes-dm seems much slower then pc dm.
Is that how the REAL snes-dm is?

Pretty much! DM was painfully slow to play on a proper SNES, especially when more than one group of monsters was visible on screen at a time.

You have to remember that the SNES only had a 3.58, 2.68, and 1.79 MHz clock speed (depending on model).

In fact, I've found that playing it on my AMD 1900 XP is much better than the original SNES as it seems to run slightly faster.
