You have to run setup.exe first to set up your sound card.

Hm... In your first message you said you ran them in C: root directory, how is that possible? You should get 'bad command or file name' :-)
Have you ran those really in C:\ or did you try running them in the [C:]\interplay\skulkeep\ directory?

Strange....sure it wasn't mispelled because that command is always used to start the game?
It should be just like this(make sure the drive letter showing is C:):
step 1: type "cd\intrplay\skulkeep"(without the quotes)
step 2: type "dm2"(again without the quotes) and press enter
you should see the ftl logo animating indicating that the game started. If not then i dont know what else to suggest other that trying to run setup again then do the above.

I'll try this again. Someone is bound to help me eventually.
I go through all the correct procedures:
run INSTALL
run SETUP
fix the sound so it is all correct and works
remove eregcard line from DM2.bat
change erecard to 414 (I think that is correct)
go to DOS prompt
have C:\cd\intrplay\skulkeep (press enter)
then type dm2 (press enter)
get to see INTERPLAY logo
then get to stare at black screen until I press ctrl alt dlt.

Christopher, sounds like it tries to use wrong display driver to show the movie. Did you install the SVGA or VGA movies? If you haven't tried yet, try using the VGA movies.

I did in fact install the SVGA first time. Well, I reinstalled it using the regular VGA, and it still won't work. My computer is about to go through the window.

I used to have the same problem - basically it often crashes if your sound card isn't set up correctly - sometimes it even plays the startup movie with the lightning and the sound works fine, then it dies.

Sound setup seemed to work fine. Tests went smoothly and it saved okay. I'm beginning to think it is impossible to get DM2 to work on my computer. I will however retry the sound setup with no sound. I wish I could get at least as far as the startup movie.

Well I got my wish, almost. I turned the sound off and I got to see the opening, and then "Bye" message as it kicked me off. Can anyone help. I'm closer then I've ever been and yet it just won't work.

Is this also through pure dos christopher? I used to get the bye command alot in windows but the game ran ok in pure dos(can't get the sound on my newer computer though since it isn't set up yet to run sound)
If not try going into pure dos and running the game. If you get some "not enough memory" error or somthing like that the try using the boot disk(if you created one by following the instuctions on this website or used the program on the cd[if it was the cd copy]) to bring up a menu(like the win98 start up menu) the select the option that says "dos protected games"[or something similar] the try running dm2 again. If this method doesn't work then I guess the only thing you can do is to either run it on an older computer or on someone elses.

Thanks everyone who has helped me out. It works fine now. I'll worry about figuring out how to get sound on it some other time.
