Dragons and fireballs in CSBWin

I have noticed rather an odd occurence, at least compaired to DMPC: Dragon's fireballs do not seem to be as powerful in CSBWin. I am sure I have not edited the dragons stats so I was suprised to see this pathetic dragon trying to fireball me from a square back. I hardly sustained any damage. From two squares, some of them didn't even reach! Weird. This is with the latest CSBWin release. One of my dungeons relies on the power of a dragon's fireball. I can, however, remember in earlier releases that the fireballs were more powerful. Such as in the Dragon Den.

Strange. We have all the old CSBwin releases
along with the source code for the major releases.
Any idea how long ago it was that things seemed
to work correctly? I am willing to go back and
compare the damage computations for a few
fireballs in the old and new releases.

I just found version 9.6 (original) and the weak fireball problem is here too. Version 9.1 rings a bell.
An example of Sod's law: I load a game up, and have to find a dragon to perform the above test. So I think the one below the DDD is the quickest to find, so a five minute run through the dungeon finds me in the DDD. Great. Jump down the pit and land on its head. Bugger. So I reload, run up again, jump down a different pit... and land on it AGAIN!!! Tip: save frequently!

I probably should not have roasted them then ;o)
Will give the big red 'un some tries next time... never bothered so far.

ANy news here ?
The monsters do "still" not cast powerful fireball spells.
(unknown version of csbwin/no info!)
(dragons, demons , zytases for sure .. lord chaos I did not check)
Fireball shooters work perfectly well (very strong fireballs)
So: Missile spells from creatures are weak
It seems monsters use just one powerlevel when employing their missile attack.
This is not good, because it makes these monsters piece of cake(one mon fireshield does it)
Can there be anything done ?
Can we Testing /helping fix it ?
Edit;
vexirks seem to be ok in regards with potent fireballs!!

The dragons in CSB have always had extremely wimpy fireballs in every version of CSBWin i have played, which is alot. Infact you could probably replay some of those old CSB wipe out the dungeon records and see if they were as wimpy back then.

ok, here`s what I found in ADGE monster editor:
there`s a difference between Dragon`s spellrage in DM and CSB. I loaded original version of DM graphics.dat file to ADGE, checked out monster`s stats in monster editor, then did the same with CSB`s version of graphics.dat file.
In DM version it is set to 2, while in CSB it`s 3. So it seems an authors decided to change one little thing in the monster`s behaviour when releasing CSB.
I just compared ALL monster values and I didn`t noticed any other differences between monsters in DM and CSB.
ADGE readme:
Spellrange: How far the monster can be to attack from a distance (cast spells)
PaulH, I bet you`re using DM`s version of graphics.dat file?
Don`t worry about it, just change that with 3 (Or up to 15 if you want

) in ADGE monster editor.
