Contrast

It just comes to my mind that it has been said quite often that some grey or white keys on the greyish floor are harder to spot in RTC than in FTL-DM. George, why don't you alter the grafix only slightly to improve the contrast between item and floor?

Is this really true (i.e. can someone take a screen shot to prove it). I grabbed all the images from DM and so the colours should be absolutely identical!

I don't have a problem with it -- seems the same to me. It encourages you to pay attention anyway.

yeah, it's an old issue from DM to begin with. That key because there are only a ew greys is very hard to see. It's really a matter of looking closely. I missed it the first time around.. hunted for about 30 mins stuck and getting pissed off untill I noticed it on the floor. From then on I payed attention to anything that looked even mildly out of place.. including cracks in the wall and such.

I think this may or may not be identical to FTL-DM, I don't remember and haven't bothered to doublecheck, but if this problem should be in old FTL-DM too, it is probably not by design but because of the more limited colour palette and quite limited number of simultaneously available coulours on ST and even Amiga, so I propose of slightly increasing the contrast in this matter in RTC, even if this should deviate slightly from old FTL-DM.

Maybe it's positioning? A suble shift in key placement means the grey fades into the floor more than a key going over a crack? But yes, even when I know where a grey key should be, I still sometimes find it annoying to look. There is a difference between lookign closely, and having to do a circular dance on each tile to find it! : )

what should be done quite simply is to shift the colour of the grey key to make it more blue or something.. this way it'll still be grey.. just subtle enough difference to see it better on the floor and over all requires so very little work.
