Party Position?

How do I set the party position using CSBuild? Every time I change the level using the Global Info window, the level is reset to 0 every time I subsequently open the file. X and Y positions seem to be saved OK.

Using CSBuild 1.1.

Not good to ask a question at the start of the holidays!!

It's worse than that. I see a version 1.2 in my future.

Oh, and setting the light level seems to be broken too -- it used to work in a dungeon I started in 817 but since I moved it to 1.1 it's always 0.... whatever I type in it gets reset.

I hope that 1.2 is also in our future.... ;)

In fact, how do I set the light for individual levels? Is that possible? It's only available on the Global menu -- so what is it supposed to affect? Every level or just level 0?

afaik level-difficulty (exp-mulitiplier) 0 means "always light" and these two settings belong together.

Indeed - that seems to work -- thanks for the tip. What's the Global Light level for then -- presumably sets a minimum level that the light falls to throughout the entire map?

In a saved game there is a current light level. It is the
result of casting spells and holding torches. That is what
you see in the global information dialog.

I just tried version 1.2 but unfortunately the party position bug is not fixed. It still resets to level 0 regardless of which level I set it to.

Is it not possible to have the party enter on a different level? How does CSB do this? Why are there two sets of coordinates for party position in the Global Info dialog, but only one allows the level to be changed?

Oh, I think I see your problem. You are saving in
'DUNGEON' format. That is the CSB 'PRISON' format
where there is no party yet.

In 'DUNGEON' format there is no place to put the
'party' position because there is no party. You always
start at the 'STARTING' position and the starting position
is on level 0.

After you save a game it records the party's position
in the 'PARTY POSITION' and that is the position that is used
when you restore from a saved game.

Turn off the 'DUNGEON FORMAT' option if you want to
create a savegame rather than a starting game.

Are you familiar with how CSB worked? With the Utility
program and such?

Ah, I see now -- I thought that I could create a prison format dungeon and have the entrance on any level.

OK, because of this restriction, Iwill need to redesign my dungeon. Next question: Is it possible to copy an entire level information from one level to another?

I know how the utility thing works, but I'd prefer for my dungeon and prison to be self contained.

OK, no problem, I can do it with a teleporter -- I didn't realise teleporters affected the ghost player. So I can immediately teleport to the level I want on entering the dungeon.
