General DM Queries

After the death of my Amiga back in 1995-96?, I was disheartened to learn that other copies of DM were not currently available. I had subsequently searched for emulated copies until about 2000 were I had given up. I tried again a few nights ago and by pure chance, happened across this fantastic website. And hoorah, after a bit of messing with configurations and dowloading files I managed to get it to play; so I am very happy about that. A few things I do not quite understand though, (as I have been reading through the forums) so I have a few questions.

- What are, or what is, 'FM TOWNS'
- What is 'RTC'?
- If I download movies, people's recorded times such as those included with the Windows/Linux version, how do I get them to stop (exit)? I had to restart to get out of the continously looping movie.
- How do people customise, or 'mod' dungeon master? And once this has been done, are they downloaded as seperate games or downloaded as add-ons which will change DM itself?
- Is the adventurer's handbook the same book that was included with the DM/Chaos strikes back bundle in 1992, or was it a seperate thing?

Thanks in advance. 8)

1) The answers to various DM versions and other things are best explained through the DM Encyclaepedia (I assume you've been through there, the link is in the pull down above).

2) RTC is 'Return to chaos', a DM clone created by a fan, which is made to play as close to DM and CSB as possible. There are a few such clones created by people in the DM community

3) Best answered by Paul, the clone's creator...

4) For the original dungeon master, there are a few programs, such as Dmute, DMBuild, or for DM 2 kentaro has a few nice programmes now available. Also, CSBwin has it's own editor which can be used to create new games, or modify old CSB/DM games to run on his clone.
Each clone like RTC or DM Java also have their own editors to create custom dungeons, and graphics/sounds are customisable.

5) One for Christophe or Gambit...

Stopping Movies?????

Did you try using the Window Close Button?
Did you try the File/Exit menu option?
Is there a particular movie in which these things did not work?

Paul: Its the movie simply titled 'movie' in the windows/linux download pack, it goes straight to fullscreen with no option to minimise it, escape usually works for this but doesn't in this instance. As its fullscreen, there are no file/exit options.

Strange, I just won't open that movie...8) Cheers guys.
