A shorter sequence to pass by is
N E E W E N W N E W E N N E to go from 10,20 to 5,23 and
W W W S S(!) S W W N S N N N W to go from 5,23 to 5,17
(!) indicates the trigger which you activate only once
in opposite to the solution presented in the map part, where you activate the trigger twice
in my opinion there is no shorter way
