i didn't know some countries were celebrating the 1st advent, is there a special ritual ?

well, not around here...it's always the sunday between 27th november & 3rd december when the first candle is on fire and another one gets lit each sunday to come, so there can be four of them before xmas eve and the 2 days of xmas....might be different in the UK
talking about being early...the supermarkets start celebrating xmas already in september

there's that tradition of celebrating it by lighting candles ontop of a wreath, starting on the fourth sunday before xmas, with one to be lit each sunday. Was kinda a special thing as i was a kid

Wow. Maybe my church is behind... Then again, nobody has said anything about Christmas and it's still November.
