According to www.pocketpcfreewares.com yesterday, DM is now freeware for the pocketpc platform. However before I could download it, the site went offline and hasn't come back since. I've now got everything I need from http://www.dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin, except the graphics.dat file. I get an error on searching the forums so this may have been asked before; but is the graphics.dat file downloadable? The only reference I've found suggests that a copy of the original game is needed; but I originally played it on an Amiga which moved on long ago. I.e. is it only CSBWin that is freeware, nit the game itself?

Thanks

*Cough* Freeware? Well, I wouldn't use that as a description. While the game has been available 'for free' in various forms for different platforms, it's not really in any sense legal. Wayne Holder still holds the copyrights on Dungeon Master. He turns a blind eye to what the community has done with the game because I believe he is thrilled that it still captivates people even now. But he could exercise his rights at any time to insist that all distributions were removed from the web, and as respectful fans, I am sure all those responsible would comply.

As for your issue with the graphics.dat, you should simply be able to download the full CSBWin package from the link above and copy the graphics.dat from there to your Pocket PC version.

Thanks for the update. It isn't at all obvious which is the full CBS package: CBSWinCE2002.RAR, for example, looks like all the source files but doesn't include a graphics.dat. I found one in quickgame.rar, and I'm now up and running, albeit in portrait mode - is there a workable landscape version? Anyway, it will keep me going for a while - excellent stuff!

If you look at dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/Games you will find
complete file-sets for several games.
