Scottish and Yorkshire people are widely used in call centres for their 'friendly and compassionate' tones.
Would you buy from a mail order firm with a cockney at the other end?!

The BBC accents thingy was on our local news, down here in the deep south. Apparently the classic southern "country" accents of 'Ampshoire, Wiltshoire, and Darset are dying out and so are being recorded for posterity.
It did make me think how rarely a strong Hampshire accent is heard on TV (unlike other regional accents). Being a fan of Southampton FC (gawdelpme) I could only think of Mick Channon.

I find the West-country accent hilarious. Everytime I speak to someone with it, I want to burst out laughing and can't help but think of the Wurzels.
