In the change log it says you can
- Editing: Can now specify starting equipment for default (non-mirror) characters

Any idea how you do this?
I had a look and couldn't see any way.

On another note, is there a way in the editor to create items stored
at -1,-1 ready to be teleported in (like the firestaff_plus_gem does)

Yes, there is a tick box i nthe general info that says 'auto-equip'

If this is enabled in a dungeon, any equipment you lay at the feet of the party start square will appear in the party inventory

Yes copperman, that appears to be how it works. Thanks for that beowulf.
You can see all the items sitting on the floor as you enter the dungeon but
I guess thats not the end of the world.

You've worked everything out already between you so there isn't much more I can add!

I'll look into the initial view though as that should be easy to sort out (if auto-equip is set, don't display any items on the partys tile when the doors slide open).
