Well... if we are talking about Broadband... I remember the good old days of a 56KB connection. And now I am on a 1.5MB connection via NTL - but I had that for a while longer, not just since tonight. :D

BT are slow for giving good deals, but they are finally upgrading me, free, cause i have been on an old adsl account for a while now, to 2Mb...

just when i was considering leaving them too!
i must admit i never hit my bandwidth limit like i thoguth i would, but the speed of downlaoding stuff is defintiely a factor....mmmmm, 2Mb *hugs my modem*

LOL My upgrade was free as well. I was on a 0.5 MB (or was it 1 MB?) connection and they upgraded us to 1.5 MB. Can't really say that I see the difference though.

I payed £215 to have a 512kb connection in my flat. I swear, they're ripping us off. I know we're students but this is taking it too far.

£215 per what?

and for a ages i felt ripepd off too, as all the new capped deals are so much cheaper, and i was never offered the alternative to switch down - so i was being charged the original broadband rate agreed, without being told what my limit or anything was!

Well it's until the tennancy agreement runs out (25th June for me). Broadband went live on 15th October 04 so technically it's about 8 months. But what you know is that I was away for 4 weeks at Christmas and I'm going to be away for 3 weeks at Easter and this Semester finishes at the end of May and I'll be going home soon after. In other words, I'm paying £43 a month for a 512kb connection!

The joys of being a student. That money should be spent on beer!

In France, with my ISP named "Free" I have about 6MBit/s download, 1.2 MBits/s upload for 30 euros per month. Also including telephony and television. A very good offer!

And if I was not so far from the DSLAM, I could have up to 15 MBits/s download !

I've had my car for 2 years now and proud of it - paid for it out of my own pocket! See you're making me feel too young again. You see they've even taken telephones out to make way for broadband so we have to make calls on mobiles all the time. They're totally running a dictatorship of sorts...

That's what I said earlier on. The upgrade didn't seem to make any difference. It all depends on how busy it is on the Internet - sometimes downloads take longer and other times I just whisk through it.
