DM/CSB/Custom (?) Rules (CSBwin)

Would it be possible to add a new set of custom rules for the HoC? I find that CSB can be a little too harsh, while DM a little too generous depending on starting levels of custom characters. I was looking at a 'middle ground' sort of equation, where the secondary stats are only reduced slightly upon reincarnation (say by 5-10% per stat).

I did not answer. I was waiting to see if 30 people
jumped in and said: "Yeh! That's what CSBwin needs!".
I considered it a sort of minor thing. I used to play CSB
with reincarnated sometimes and resurrected sometimes
and never noticed that they were different. The weakness
seemed to fix itself rather quickly in faster levels.
At any rate, the 30 people never showed up.
If you want to tune the stats, you are welcome to do that
with the editor. You don't need to change the runtime engine.

The same way we get 30 people commenting on obscure DSAs?
I can't see the point in giving the characters any levels if people will just reincarnate in DM rules, or ressurect in CSB rules. Generally speaking. There has to be a trade off. My new character set has levels somewhat in between DM chars and CSB chars and IMHO the existing rules are extreme. Just a thought, maybe I'll change them!

Well, the difference between resurrecting and reincarnating is indeed something that hasn't been quite explored yet. I am not sure if it would really work, but having semi-powerful heroes so both options would make sense is certainly an interesting idea. It would definitely add something new to the game, though it could be hard to balance.

Sounds like you are feeling a bit left out.
I don't think it would be too hard to do the following:
Add optional characters at the end of the
text that defines the champions. If present,
these characters would tell how much to reduce
the stats when the champion is reincarnated.
If one or more of these characters are present
then the DM/CSB rules would be ignored.

Left out of what?! Is it a club I need to join?!
I am just relaying factors I find that make a difference in gameplay, and as characters are important I find this variable makes a big difference.

This looks fantastic! Very straightforward and effective, excellent work. However... I am using the new csbwinv55 and the invisible monsters are not been drawn invisible anymore. Like an idiot I have forgotten what the previous version I was using was, but the same is true of v53.

Ah, it was 9.8v34. Also in this version the double shooters work incorrectly, but are fixed for v55. I get the feeling this has been commented on elsewhere, but the invisible monsters that did work previously (v34) now do not in v55.

I'm sure that it is. I posted a new CustomBraphicsDemo8 in which
I placed an invisible Screamer. It works for me. Perhaps you
could see if works for you. If nothing else, you will have to
ship your dungeon to me for debugging.

I'll have to ship you the dungeon. You'll probably shout at me for saying the the invisible monster is placed inside a togglable wall (CSBuild complains) and when I 'set ' the wall I can see the offending monster. However it did work before.

The DM rules bit is not saved in savegames; so once you saved, the default becomes CSB rules.

It looks like the DMRules is saved.
I see that the DMRules(Designer option) is not
saved. I posted a new debug version that
attempts to save the DMRules(Designer option).
But DMRules is set at the start of a new game ('ENTER'
the Prison) if the DMRules(Designer option) is set. So
if the DMRules(Designer option) is set in the Dungeon.dat
then the DMRules should be set in the savegames.
At any rate, let me know how the new debug version
works and what else appears broken.
