Text thingies (CSBwin)

A quirk with texts I've noticed (I'm sure it has been pointed out before) is that 'silent' texts on the floor still move the display up by one position, and also any text produced with an &say automatically generate an empty line afterwards. Would it be possible to remove these behaviours?

You`re right. And texts produced without DSA`s behave the same: after "clearing" floor texts (not used anymore in the game), empty line is generated (some texts are generated only once)

I wrote on my list:
"Floor texts create a blank line".

This text business is very annoying. I changed some stuff so
that Zyx could force line-breaks in floor text (and &SAY, too,
I think). But the text in the CSB dungeon uses the same
character to mean something else. God knwos what. I just
put things back as they were as best I know how.
This will break any intentional forced line-breaks. We will have
to do something else to force the breaks. Perhaps '//'. Sorry
about this but we cannot break the original games. Anything
I can do to help recover?
Note: I think the original used the '/' to mean line break
if the text was used on a wall and space if text was used
on the floor. So the same text could be used two different
places.

So '/' would mean 'line break in wall text, ignore in floor text' and '//' would mean 'line break in both'? Sounds good

Yoe, that is what I had in mind except that a single slash
means a space in floor text; it is NOT ignored.
