No Training !

Decided to finish DM with the lowest stats I possibly could. Wherever possible I used gates etc to do any vital killing. Needed just a few spells and a little physical stuff from Chani along the way. Apart from this some frantic dodging anytime a monster came near me.
Started with Iaido and Chani. Start and finish stats as follows: (Iaido, no rise in any level)
START
Health Stamina Mana
Iaido 48- 65- 11
Chani 47- 67- 20
FINISH
Iaido 48- 65- 11
Chani 61- 72- 40
No bad uh ? You were right Beo, who needs training !

Exactly! : )
The only people you need to train would be Stamm/Halk to get power gem
How'd you avoid Iaido raising level

Iaido just had to do a couple of low wizard spells and maybe 1 priest and a couple of ninjas. There are LOADS of saves in this game. So if he went up I tried again !

I reckon with a full team of good wizards and a good ninja it should be possible to complete wuth all original stats.

Reverse genetic engineering? Cool
And there we go, we are now getting to the real challenges - Paul Steven's 'prove the worse party' game, and your 'no levelling up' game

I don't think it counts to revert to saves if someone levels up. You should try and do it with minmal saves or none at all for a proper challenge.

Point taken Gambit, but I was trying techniques which meant monsters could be avoided and trapped etc rather than killed. Now Ive done my run through I will try with a full team with minimal saves. Although a certain amount of luck is needed on how the monsters are positioned.
It would be nearly impossible I think to do it in one go with no saves. Such weak characters obviously need very little to die or go up a fighter level if bitten. Tricky on tyhe scorpion level for example !

This reminds me of the take no damage and deal no damage games, i managed to get to scorpion level with both but then died or took damage.
Did you ressurect or reincarnate your champions?

Ressurected both.
The main problems were killing the knight for the key. He had to be dropped down the pit and then the flame has to be killed. I had thought of trying to kill him with a door and magic boxes, but the two immaterial guys wouldnt leave me alone and it takes too many spells to kill them. This would be impossible in RTC as the fall into the pit doesnt kill the knight outright.
The wasps in the clockwise level are damn tricky as are all the wasps. Also the start of level 10 is a nightmare as the eyeballs have to be killed for the key. Had to resort to ven bombs which caused Chani to go up a priest level.
I got lucky with the worms at the end of level 4 who politely got out of the way once I had retreated to the screamer room. And the knight in the corridor leading to the spider room was also very co-operative !
Torches are at a premium as I used no light spells. But food and water no problem as virtually no sleeping needed.

At this sight, Lord Chaos would surely be shocked to say the least.
last words before fusion:
reincarnated midgets! how could
you puny mortals survive??!

(to himself)I did well to build another, much better dungeon, before I get defeated, which I forsaw btw...
AAAAARRFGH..... I will
strike back .
nice idea to defeat the game without training.
too much dodging for me, and far too powerhungry;
It itches in my fingers to roast stone heap monsters with mon fireballs..

Lol, yes Chaos mutters "you just can't get the staff nowadays"

Theres going to be a few monsters shown the door or sent for re-training.

Rofl very good.

I wouldn't be able to finish the game like that - I like to KEEELL THINGS!! Especially the dragon...and stuff. Anyway I have to get revenge on other mobs if they hurt/kill me.

hmm, wonder if the same can be done for csb, give it a try?

You would have great difficulty doing CSB without gaining a level, I think, since a lot of keys and things are dropped off monsters I believe...the solid key in Ku for example, for which you must kill the dragon. And I think the Horn of Fear gives Priest levels and you need to use it in the mummy-herding puzzle. Would probably be quite amusing for someone to try though

I should take my own advice ! NEVER trust Boris. Going well with 4 person team. But took Boris and Tiggy for their wizarding. Now at the "Put the gem back" riddle and neither woosy Boris or his silly girl friend can survive a fall down a pit
Ive actually got to do the silly riddle ! Doh
These two should stick to knitting in the future.

hey!
after all, they
are spellcasters.

It´s not their job to fall down pits.
THat was STamm and Halk´s part, remember?

No one said your four party had to survive to the end....plus why not ressurect them in an altar and lower their stats further : )
Have a game where you finish below where you started!

It gets weirder and weirder....
if someone levels up, kill her!!
this lowers stats and everything is fine.
no wait-- kill her twice, that´s much more decreasing stats!

Just health

Ja, I remember now.
there was talk about the decrease some time ago and it seems just health is affected to drop to 25 in the end. Oh well!

this is quite insane. But I think a recorded game with one character, no saves, no level increases in the quickest time will be a good competition. If levels are gained, say 10 min time penealty per level

I would assume time and and no leveling are quite opposite, so interesting to see the times compared to the quickest normal games

one character
(basically legal to get better stuff from other champions
which you have to kill off immediately)like rope, or chainmail in this case)
to help a bit.
penalty: how much health you gain so many minutes you loose.

the only way to kill it without actually fighting it is to fall ontop of him in the pits above, this may seem almost impossible due to the area the dragon in is so huge, but you can try and lure him under a pit near the stairs, and once hes in place, slam the move buttons like hell to get up the stairs and back down the pit to get ontop of him, i havent tested it though, should work after some tries.

Oh yeah forgot that method since I've never used it...yes that is possible, that's how the CSB-in-9-mins person did it.

i never saw the csb in 9 minutes before, guess ill have a look one of the days

Ive always killed the dragon rather than jumped on it. But it should be easier if hes frozen with a magic box I should think.
BTW I refuse to believe that anyone can complete DM in one go (no saves) without going up any levels. Completely impossible.

I dont think it would be impossible, the wasp level makes it very hard though. Otherwise it would be pretty straight foward. Plenty of pits to throw monsters down, doors to repeatedly close on them and teleporters to telefrag them if you have the time to lure them to right place. But the wasp level...not sure how you would do that without gaining xp.
