Time to dig up the book of long and meaningless words...

I will prohibit long scientific words this time. That was over the top last year. Don't do it again you ghastly gastropod!

Bah! Humbug! Scrooge!
I had some corkers too!
Rules help regulate the fun!

Maybe it would be an idea to get everyone's feedback about the rules, see if there was anythign restrictive or something that spiled the thread last time
Suggested rules:
1. You do not talk about Christmas Thread...I mean, only one word per post, and you cannot post in reply to your own word.
2. In the event of multiple replies, the first person only should edit their word, or if not possibly replace/delete it.
3. You can punctuate before or after your own word, and it can apply to a previous word (eg ending a sentence so you can start a new one). You are allowed to alter a word (in moderation) before by using a hyphen, or even a hyphenated/appostrophied ending. For exampe "-ly remarkable" or " 's beard".
4. Grammar/punctuation are key. Please follow the sentence structure that has gone before. Especially make speech logical (don't close an unassigned speech sentence and start a new sentence, add a 'said' etc).
5. Avoid certain words. Swearing/explicit words are probably going to ruin a good enuendo filled or silly sentence. Jargon words used for the sake of it will probably also ruin a fun sentence. Follow your instincts (the odd word never hurt) but try not to overdo it or being crude.
Anyone? (especially Gambit as it is his thread : ) )

I think we have to accept that cock ups are going to be made. Sometimes they do add to the story, other times it confuses but of course they can always be sorted out eventually. I madr more than most hehe, and this is the language I am supposed to speak 1st! What I am saying is that I don't want the rules to put off persons not too fluent in our rather strange language.

I'd go with Beo's rules, it generally worked last time. With the caveat that when it doesn't, it doesn't matter. I shall be less anal this time.
Possibly.

Oh gawd...I am gonna log in and find about 30 posts already aren't I, lol. I didn't post to the thread much last year because I'd log on and find about three new pages of posts and then not be arsed to scroll through them all to think of something good to post myself. Oh well, I'll try and post lots this year (she says...)

.
Omg one-word posts from ME

You'll be a high lord before new year!
Gambit updated the short thread quite quickly, I tended to keep a notepad with the story words too, so will try and also updated it q
Ah well, it's all good really! New sentences that have nothing to do with the last are fun - just make sure you read backwards far enough to see the start of the sentence you are on!

Aye that was what I meant, or something. Hehe I'm not far from Archmaster...and that's when I can choose my own title isn't it?
Posted: Sat Dec 17, 2005 5:15 pm
by beowuuf
Yes you can...thought don't you want to rub the edges off your Archmaster first? : )
Posted: Sat Dec 17, 2005 6:15 pm
by Ameena
Well I could have two titles - Archmaster and the one that I want, since the one that I want, I think, would fit in there as well, seeing how long some people's "titles" seem to be

. I'll have to check my post count in a sec and see how close I am...

Ooooh omg I just checked...wait, it IS 1050 for Archmaster isn't it? Because I just checked and it was 1045...which makes this post 1046 so I only have FOUR MORE POSTS TO GO!

. Never mind the CHristmas thread, I'm gonna be a bloody Archmaster by tomorrow aren't I

But only if enough people post stuff that I can reply to...alternatively, of course, I could just spam-post a bunch of really short ones in any random thread but that's cheating and umm...well, spam, hehe.
(Three posts to go!)

Umm....edible ones

. I like the Toffeechoc ones from Millie's Cookies. Generally chocolate ones are nice, really.
