[Not a bug] Buggy examples

Most of the dungeon examples included in RTC produce errors and warnings when they are opened with the editor. Probably they haven't been updated to V0.37 standard?

I can't get any of the example dungeons to produce errors and only a couple give any warnings (all of which are benign and expected).

Can you let me know exactly which files were causing the problems and what the errors were?

Not necessary, I found the reason: I unpacked the latest RTC version into the folder where I had the previous one in order to take over old savegames, assuming that everthing changed would be substituted by a newer version of the file. But some of the examples haven't been updated but removed in the latest version, so the old, out-of-date examples still remained in the RTC folder, and of course produced errors when opened with RTCEd V0.37

NewMonsters.txt, NewObjects.txt, TheZoo.txt, DM.txt, DM_Original.txt, CSB.txt - no problems

Actions.txt - 3 warnings

Labyrinth.txt - 13 warnings

animation.txt, orange.txt, phantom.txt, walls.txt - 28 errors, 10 warnings

Is there a way of dumping the editors diagnosis details into a file?

Since I missed one or another update like for example RTC V0.36: Just out of curiosity: Have in some earlier RTC version examples been included not listed here?

Do we currently have the entirety of RTC custom dungeons of whatever RTC version that have been published sometime somewhere hosted together anywhere?

That's all expected. The warnings are fine (and because the example dungeons do non-standard things).

These no longer exist in the recent versions of RTC.

No - you'd get exactly the same errors into a text file by compiling the dungeons though.

I think there's a thread in the Custom Dungeons forum that has a list.

Hmm, I think I would like to gather all custom dungeon files and host them on a central site, either on my webspace or on a friend's webspace.

Please anyone: Send me a PM to get my email-adress and mail me all the custom dungeons you have! I will see that we soon have a central download access.

Great idea, would that extent to the new library for objects that's been mentioned?

Lunever, a) download all the ones from the links, they will be the newest version of the dfungeons, then list ones you don'ty have.
b) how are you going to deal with new dungeons?

I already have downloaded most of them, that is, the RTC ones. I will handle them first and then see when I'll have time to do the same for the rest. I intend to simply make a complete zipped RTC dungeon bundle. If you currently think "Oh, I'd like to have a couple of RTC custom dungeons", you will sooner or later stumble across the custom dungeon list. Then however you will notice, that many of the links there do not point immediately to a download location, but to a different thread about that specific custom dungeon, some here, some on the encyclopaedia, and only there are the links to the individual download locations, meaning some are hosted on the Encyclopaedia, some are hosted at the dungeon designers webspace, and inevitably some of those links will be outdated if a dungeon designer moves to a different domain etc...

Once I had the time to gather and upload the dungeons I will make a sticky thread in the custom dungeons forum asking dungeon designers to inform me about updates so I can update my uploaded archive too. Depending on where I will host them maybe I can give ftp-access to a couple of regulars/moderators/admins here, that will make keeping that archive up to date easier (so it will be possible to update it even when I am temporarily unavailable).
Speaking of webspace: I only have a very small allowance of webspace for myself, which might not be enough. I could ask a friend, who is managing a large forum community on his own server and probably has a good deal of unused webspace and traffic, whether he would host that for me. But before asking him I should now: How about "our" own dungeon-master or Encyclopaedia webspace. Some files are uploaded there. Is there a lack of webspace that keeps us from having a central download archive or is it just that no one so far has been willing to organize is that way (of course the creation of the dungeon list thread is a very very important contribution already)?
Cows, Christophe, what do you think?

BTW: Has there ever been an actual team dungeon for RTC?

The DM Web was supposed to be havign a dfferent interface for the customs soon

The trouble with a central bundle is that there are many bug fixes and demos...so be sure to keep track of them all

No team dungeon for RTC - at the very least you and copperman seem to be doing stuff, I am sure others such as sophia and myself (if i have tme) can contribute. I was goign to release a HoC as a startign point for a team dungeon, but I am never getting back to it

At least the list has the last known location of the dungeons and the threads you can see progress on...permenant filespace would be great to have alternate downloads of each file...that way the designer can increase the revs, but in the case of missing filespace there would be a cached version.

I would still prefer that the list zyx did be the way people see the dungeon though, since otherwise we could have the fun situation of people flooding the custom forum with questions about dungeon that already have threads probably answering those questions

Anyway, I will update the list thread, and can send you whichever dungeon you didn't have as I seem to have them all in my modules folder of RTC

Ok, then we can simply do it that way - The custom dungeon list thread will of course remain es ever, in addition I will load up a RTC-bundle that will be as complete as possible.
