everything is working fine for me but I can't hear the monsters footsteps.
How do you fix this

There were no footsteps in the atari version of DM/CSB, it was only in amiga and PC

There is a way to alter the dungeon through use of DSA (designer specified actuators) if you wish to create a custom version with this feature in.

Would it be possible (read: Is somebody willing) to release a version of DM and CSB with just the monster footsteps added, with everything else unchanged? I bet that a lot of users would really appreciate that, me being one of them.

This reminds me of the old Atari /Amiga sound difference issue.
I am really glad that csbwin has more sound potential now.

Trantor, for the version you have in mind, I would recommend
horn of fear and warcry sample as well.
But I guess it it contraproductive, because csbwin is like a river
and the version would not be updated anymore once it is leaving
the main stream..

I think he meant dungeon version not engine version, and DSAs are backwardsly compatible

aha. thanks beo!
a bit off topic:
I may not be up to date there , so I want to ask :
How many creature types can be supported right now,
levels still = 64? and how many different items are possible?

Are there the old restrictions still in place? If so , where ?
Can they be circumvented(with DSA power), like double the
possible items in a dungeon or double the creature types being
found ?

How about the palette? (16 +-1 colour). Anything changed?
Questions over questions.

Exactly Beo, I meant dungeon, not engine. But I agree with you zoooom, Warcry and Horn of Fear sounds should be available as well.

Zyx is ceertainly the expert on all these
things. He has pushed every limit and
taken advantage of every feature available.

You can do things like "Hear monster footsteps
within within a distance of 4 if a journeyman
ninja is leading the party".

The fixed/enhanced DM dungeon is a good idea and I will give it a try.

Limits:
monsters: 27 basic monster with 3 possible alternate graphics, = 27 x 4 =108 monsters
(AI can be customized with DSAs)

Palette:no change, but you can shift certain colors at will with DSA and use overlays. All in all it's only useful for special effects, not to display 256+ colors monters...

Items: no change. (though you can access a few hidden/unused items from graphics.dat, and you can specify their description when examining them.)

Levels: 64 x 32 x32

Wallsets: customizable
