Is it normal that i don't get a level or something when I use Warcry??? I tried it without a level more than 30 minutes...

Possibly something to do with a new tweak in RTC, you are probably failing to warcry (no target) and getting no experience

Half an hour of war-crying thin air? I bet that was exciting. If you can find a monster behind a portcullis you can war cry that, and casting poison bolts on the "wrong" side hoping to miss is a sneaky way of getting wizard levels. I hate training myself but I put a couple of portcullised monsters in to my custom dunge to for the benefit of reincarnees (there is also the obligatory screamer bashing room).

That room was great!

I actually got in a little over my head and I had to go charging out of there with a few shrilly squeaking screamers on my tail-- I made it through, thankfully enough.

Imagine the ignoble fate of being killed by screamers!

Well, although I think training is pointless in RTC because training is a lot more boring than reimporting characters into whatever dungeon, warcrying thin air should give at least 1 XP per cry.

It would be funny if you created a Screamer with the Warcry attack. Everytime it uses it it will make itself scared...

*evil grin*

As has been alluded to above, you'll get more experience from performing actions which lead to a result than those that don't.

So, for example war crying into thin air will only get you 1XP (specifically, it's not zero), whereas doing so and actually scaring a monster away will get you at least 10XP. Net result is that you'll have to do an awful lot of war crying out of battle to gain a level!

BTW - the principle applies to all other attacks too, so a fireball that hits a monster will gain the caster more experience than one that just goes into a random wall etc etc.

BTW II - the attack method does actually have to *do* something to get the additional XP, so just standing the other side of a portcullis to a monster doesn't gain you anything just from your location.
