Question: How do you keep a group of 4 screamers together as a group?

I must not being doing something correctly because I get to a screamer room (lvl 0) where there is supposed to be a group of 4 screamers and a group of 2 and when I get there they all seem to be running around solo.

By the way: To the RTC and editor creator... FANTASTIC job! I just stubbled on this a week ago and I can remember dreaming about an editor back when I 1st played DM and CSB on the Atari ST. /applaud

THANK YOU

Firstly, and most importantly, welcome!

Currently, you can't.

The more advanced monster AI in RTC means that each monster is independent of each other and so may well end up wandering in a different direction to others even if they start off the same place.

As soon as you enter the general area though, they'll all come back together to hunt you down still ;-)

Actually, while it would be a cool option for dungeon designers to deliberately group monsters, generally I prefer things as they are now. In my last game I encountered an armoured knight that was suddenly joined by a stray materializer; quite an evil combination.

In theory there would be a way to fake monster groups and a way to force them...in theory...

How?

In theory only, you could start messign aroudn with a single monster which has graphics that looks like four different creatures -give it double the attacks and do some cunning side/front/back graphics and even have it swap around attacks depending on the facing. Have it drop more complex creatures on death with three and two monsters.... as I said, in theory, and a bit complex.

You could also use the movement attack of a monster to pull and similar creatrues to its own squareonce it moves, thus forcing a movement...again a theory , not sure how well it would work in proactise

On or both of these methods i was planning on testing at some point, inclincation to try them has declined since then though

Nah, sounds way to messy to be praticable.
