I downloaded the (2Gb) demo when i connected to Steam. It's a medieval FPS that reminds Hexen or Ultima Underworld : it's a (gore!) fighting game but with all the classic RPG additions : inventory, XP system, spells, potions, levers to pull down, ...
3D engine is an enhanced version of Valve's Source.
Hi-res Videos are here :

I think i'll buy this one !

Massive disappointment, especially after Arkane's last game, Arx Fatalis. The videos really chisel out the game's very best, but they must have played it for weeks before getting enough viable footage to throw together any kind of presentable video, because all that stuff they show is random and impossible to do intentionally. And it's all the game boils down to anyway: pure hack and slash. That, and half the people who bought it can't run it. There were reports to the Better Business Bureau because Ubi released a game so bugged out that it wouldn't even run on so many systems. Not that it will do any good, because both Ubi and Arkane are French companies.
Save your money for DM3. Should be out about the same time as DNF.

Dark messiah looks interesting but if what Tom says is true then I'm happy to leave well alone.
I'm more interested in Assassin's Creed though I'll need a new PC to play it properly (and pretty much anything else released in the last 2-3 years!)

To each his own. Don't abstain from playing it on my account. Just be prepared for a fairly weak action game with obnoxious load times and zero role-playing. Also be prepared for some serious bugs, if it runs at all. Ubi couldn't be bothered with testing the game before its release.
Yes, I was joking about DM3.

Hmm, my friend just played it at the weekend and said he liked it. Of course, he's finished all four endings by the end of the weekend, and he didn't actuially get it until half way through Saturday : (

Erm... coming back here to say that this game really rocks ! and yes, it's a hack and slash game and i looove H&S games !
I didn't go very far but i haven't noticed any bug yet.
Assassin's Creed looks great too, like a Prince of Persia clone, no ? Will it be released for PC ? I've only seen Xbox360 and PS3...

don`t be so sure - one of the designers (Java, RTC or CSBwin) could name his custom "Dungeon Master 3" and we will have the 3rd part

Maybe it only runs right on French computers...

Maybe. Is anyone else having serious problems, like the inventory belt just disappears and you can only use weapons you pick up directly off the ground? And then the game crashes? (Big surprise there.) This game needs a patch crazy bad.

It's out. Haven't bothered reinstalling the game to try it. The patch notes don't mention anything about all the problems I was having. I got a new video card though since my old one died. Another NVidia. That might help with the performance. Will find out some day, when I'm not busy with other things.

Is the XBox 360 'Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements'
the same as 'Dark Messiah of Might and Magic' for the PC?
I went ahead and ordered the PC version, knowing I'll probably have
some irritations trying to get it to run on a computer in the first place.
I may even set up a separate computer, just to get all the necessities
on it to run the game.
If the 360 game is the same, I'll probably just order it and try to get used to the controls.
If the 360 game is much different, I may get it for my boys.
Any clarity on this would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time. MW

I liked it, the multiplayer option is quite good, although the server populations are a little low now.
It does have quite high spec requirements though.
