Hi, i have searched through the forums, and cant find the answer to this. I have also read through the txt doc with dmute but still cant find out how to edit the characters stats?

when you load up the dungeon, then in the misc. menu select 'edit characters' it allows you to look at the character stats but not change them, any ideas?

Don't you have to do that with hex-editing in DMute? I can't remember.

CSBuild will allow you to do it intuitively and effectively though, but once you edit a file in CSBuild you can't take it back into DMute.

No, you can edit a game charatcer's stats normally with the dialogue...no idea what is going on!

And gambit, you can't edit your charatcers in CSBuild, only portraits

??? Not in DMute you can't -- how are you doing this?

I tried it in DMute. If you select Edit Champions from the menu nothing happens! And if I point to a character pad and press E to edit, I select Edit Object and you just get the View Champions dialogue where you can only view their stats not edit them.

DMute works perfectly for me - just tried it...

- Load up a save game
- Select the menu "Misc", then the option "Edit Characters"
- Click on the portrait of the person you want to edit
- Click on the stats you want to edit (levels, health etc or strength etc)
- Up pops a dialog box giving you the values of the stats
- Change the stat values
- Hit OK
- Close the edit characters menu
- Select the menu "File", then the option "Save"

All done. If you let me know which bit of that is going wrong for you (and *how* exactly) then we can try and help more.

There's the rub. We're talking about DUNGON.DAT files... Guess DMute never supported editing characters in fresh dungeons?

Don't think that's the problem.

From the description:

it doesn't sound like what happens with a dungeon.dat file, more a save game file. My guess is that the step rob is missing is that you have to click on the stats to edit them...

Right, i see what the problem was.
as gambit said i (or we) were trying to actually edit the DUNGEON.DAT files and change the character mirror stats.

but ive started a game on DMPC, saved it then edited the save game file, selected the characters, and re-tried it and it now lets me edit them!! :)
