Strange question...

...for all the German speakers (I know I can rely on Trant for sound alikes)
Is there any way some english word can get mis-translated as 'nude', or 'nude painting'

I am not 100% sure what you mean by that Beo. Are you looking for an English word that sounds similar like the German word for "nude" (which would be nackt) or "nude painting" (Nacktbild)? If so, well, "nugget" would be the closest I can think of. "Nugged" would be even better, but I'm afraid that word doesn't exist.

A book blurb in german said the author did 'nude painting' when they don't...so wondered what the neck would have caused that translation!

Ah, I understand now. Unfortunately, I can't imagine what might have caused that weird translation... You don't happen to have the exact German words there, do you?
