Hi all. new at all this. I used to play DM on the Atari ST. I feel a bit odd talking about a game that took up so many Hrs of my life. Just throwing all manner of items down endless corridors to gain Ninja levels, or sitting in the screamer regen for Wizard and Priest levels. Then after i felt my life needed a change I'd pop down to the Rat regen to get me my Fighter levels. God I'll never get those Hrs back. Loved playin DM and power building my Champions, Readying them for the new challenge of CSB. OK MORE OF MY LIFE LOST ON THAT ONE. But never the less I enjoyed the games. correct me if i'm wrong but DM2 never came out on the ST. is there a way I can get the game from PC to my dust ridden ST? Also i've seen many attemps at emulating DM but so far no one has done it to that standard. Can anyone let me know of a good CopyCat? and 1 more thing I've seen people making their own art, items, wepons, etc for the java version of DM is there a way I can incorperate them into the DM game/maze i'm attempting to create. Thanks.

First of all, welcome to the forums!

It is not possible to play DM2 on the ST. However, there is a very good clone here in the forums called RTC - Return to Chaos. You can find a download link in the RTC General forum. RTC contains DM, CSB and DM2. I am sure it will be worth some more hours of your life. Also, an editor comes with RTC that enables you to build your own dungeons.

Thanks for that. this looks a much better design for DM rather than the JAVA. think its just gonna take a little time to learn How to use the Editor. i've already got ideas on traps and puzzles just hope i can incorperate them into the game.

You may find some of the time you lost lying around down the back of one of the forums...but...then again none of the rest of us have!

Gif pictures for DMJava should convert to bmps that you can use in RTC - just make sure you use power pink (255,255,0 colour) for the background for transparency, and check similar sized objects to get the size and location offset right

As for DM2, you can also play the PC version emulated through the DOSbox too - there is a post in the correct forum for that

It would be remiss of me not to mention CSBwin, which is actually he original engine recoded for PC and updated a little with extra functions - just for some nostalgia, and also might fit with your prefered dungeon making , who knows

Everyone here has an appreciation for the simplicity and beauty, of this old treasure of a game.
If you want to rant and rave about how great the amiga was. Your barking up the wrong tree me old china plate. I never played on one.

As it happens, I was being sarcastic but having just re-read it, I do come across pretty mean-spirited, especially considering that it's pratically my first day...

So I do apologise and also made a mental note not to be sarcastic / ironic in writing - it is very hard to convey tone.
