ok 1st ever post and I am sure this has been covered in a previous post, but with 12 pages of topics I do not have the time at the moment to go through them all trying to see if the answer has already been given so I apologise for that now.

I found a disk in my loft with Dungeon Master on it for a PC.

I put the disk in, and follow the very simple instructions to get it going. This works well although sometimes the game seems to lag before it will progress.

After half way through level 4, I decided to try out the save game feature (should have done it at the start I guess) and lo and behold, it don't work :(

keeps telling me to put in the save game disk, to which I do not own.

Now if there is some kind of DAT file or something like that then please make it sound basic. I am most definately not a techno or IT wizard....thck as a blamanche me you know.

Many thanks for any help received.

This is a terrible first post. You want some help but say you don't have the time to look for yourself. Well, if that's the case, I don't have the time or inclination to help you. I realise you both gave advanced thanks and an apology, but really, you clearly haven't even tried to look for the answer for yourself.

Now, if you'd said "I've searched and searched the forum and can't find any answer to my problem" it would be a whole different scenario.

There is a perfectly good search facility on the forum, use that.

Yes, I'm full of Christmas Cheer.

ok, that didn't sound like I had bothered to look at all and for that I apologise again.

I did search several pages but ran out of time and never spotted it.

I must admit I never even noticed the search button at the top, but having now done as you said I managed to find what I was looking for on page 43 :)

Perhaps my next post will be actually helpful to someone rathere than annoying someone.

The DM Encycloaedia (link in the pull down above)
.

The PC DM game is based on the amiga/atari game where you had to swap disks and insert a blank disk to save the game.

The best idea is to pull the contents of the disk onto your hard drive and run if from there. The message may be the same, but rest assured the PC version will create a 'dmsave.dat' file and you ca resume normally

many thanks for that.

I did exactly what you said and it saved perfectly.

Bizarre but its been many years since I played DM (I still have an Amiga and 3 different copies of FTL's DM to use on it) and yet I still remember what to do and where to go (mostly). Isnt it amazing that after so long the game still comes back to you like it was yesterday. I used to love DM and finished it 4 times way back in the late 80's early 90's...what a game :)
