Just tinkering around with the graphics.dat file.
It's far from complete, but I've just whipped up a quick wallset.

Excellent work Sophia - I really like the way this is coming along. I've still to actually get the hang of doing any changes, but the graphics themselves are quite easy to change.

Using this method, would it be possible to combine two or more wallsets to one room or level?

Oh, that's a nice looking wallset.

Right now, it's only possible to specify the wallset by level.

I would like to change this so that walls can be specified by individual tiles/facings instead, but I have been rather busy/distracted lately so I haven't had much time to add things.

It's on the todo list though

Sophia, I've been through the graphics.dat and exported the files that I'm working on at the moment.
Could you tell me the name of the main dungeon door right at the beginning as you press the enter button?

I've found the wood, window and ornate pics, but not havin' any luck finding this one.
I know now why you dislike the grabber - it's not one of the best utils I ever used myself!

BTW, would you like the actual "Dungeon Strikes Back" logo changin', or are you happy the way it is?

That one is called "FRONTDOOR."
It's in graphics2.dat, though. Unfortunately, graphics2.dat won't work with the grabber. (or at least I never could make it work)

I'm not sure why! It might work with the command-line "dat" utility, or I could send you a zip of all of the PCX's that are in graphics2.dat.

Of course, you don't even -need- to mess with the original, really. Before it loads the original, DSB will first look for a frontdoor.bmp, frontdoor.pcx, or a file called FRONTDOOR in a graphics.dsb file in your dungeon's dir... only then will it go to the base graphics.

If you're compiling graphics by hand, don't forget to add them as straight binary files, NOT as Allegro's BITMAP type.

As for the logo, I like it because it's the DM logo and the CSB logos mashed together. If you can change it without messing with the overall "look," I'm all for that, but I mostly like it the way it is. If that makes sense.

Cheers Sophia. Yeah according to the grabber, there's nothing in the graphics2.dat. I figured it was just a glitch regarding the grabber itself.
If you wouldn't mind, I'll take up your offer of the zip for the additional PCX images. I'll PM you my email address.

Also thanks for mentioning the compiling. At the mo' they are just in the main folder. I read from your tutorial that the game will automatically look there first, so it has saved me compiling so far.

As for the logo, I didn't think you would want it altering (kinda like your own personal touch to your creation!) - which is why I thought it best to check with you first.
I'll have a play around with it, but I want to get the main graphics done first anyway. If you don't like any of the designs, then we just won't use 'em.
