Film: There Will Be Blood (*** possible spoilers***)

I finally saw this last night and came away very disappointed.
I so wanted to like this film but it just didn't work for me. The cinematography and art direction was amazing and there were some of the best performances I've seen in a long time. But ultimately the film failed to emotionally engage me and left me cold.
Of course, looking at the subject matter of the film, and the central character traits of the two main leads (Daniel Plainview and Eli Sunday) that was probably largely the point.
Anyone else seen it? Opinions?
