Monster Attack & View Range?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering how the attack and view range works under the monster stats? I tried inputing different values in the monster attack range, but nothing seemed to happen. At least I didn't notice anything...
Also, when you have 4 of one type of monster on a single square, can you have it so that only the front 2 monsters attack the party? This being close range monsters, like skeletons or mummies?
