ok, general plan is I arrive in Bordeaux on the 5th. I leave on the 15th in the early am. Who would like to meet up with me while I'm there? I figure I can take a train up to Paris if need be

I think the 5th is the may holiday so might be possible for a day trip then (although I am saving for a house atm), the weekend of the 10th I'm busy though

I'd love to go, but I think my work schedule won't cooperate.

I don't have a free schedule then
(starting phase of final tests at school) and
money would be an issue sadly!
But maybe some other time.

Would love to, but I'm as poor as a church mouse on the day Mrs.Mouse ran off with the neighbour and took all the cheese.

ok well the 5th is the day I arrive, so unless you all are planning to go to bordeaux then I won't be going to paris on the 5th. It'll be too much to have 14 hours of flight only to hop on to a train for a few more hours
I arrive at 17:40, then have to deal with all sorts of other stuff you need to do when you land in foreign countries.. like the hour long line up at gatwick

so I expect I won't get out of the building until 18:30 at the earliest! that leaves that day mostly shot. I won't be settled mentally to try the train any sooner than the 7th.
Tobias and Iris mentioned they may be able to come down for the day only and would need to leave in the evening again. So, I don't know.. perhaps some other ideas can be thrown in the pot?

Well, during the week we both got to work, but probably we can come for the weekend to Paris. Plus, the 12th is a holiday here, so we could probably extend our stay to Monday.

ultimately I think the weekend is the best over all option as more people can partake at that time.. with the exception of mr fuzzface...
20 days and counting

you could always come down to bordeaux instead of paris.. who wants to see paris anyway.. come to the land of wine

We'll share a bottle of a nice deep red

paris was the quickest option!

ok, so it's *slightly* farther away
and more expensive...
but, cheaper and faster than a trip to canada

(or from.. for that matter

)
It's ok, I'll visit again.. eventually

I think Rome is supposed to be next.. we'll see what happens

I think perhaps I should do better planning next time

Further in advance.
For certain I'll return to the general area.. I mean I still have yet to see Ireland and Scotland.. Germany.. and I've more to see in London and for certain in France as well. So I'll take in Bordeaux, see the sights there. I'm certain it'll be plenty for the meager 10 days I have already. My roomates are already jealous being wine drinkers..
I'm no longer entirely sure I can make it up to Paris yet.. so I'll need to look at my funds and what not and we'll play it from there.. I'll have it figured out in a few days.. seems from searching that the train is a bit of a problem already... many of you have real life to contend with. funds, work, personal life. It's my fault for not having a clear plan in advance.
I thought I'd toss that out there before anyone made any full arrangements

Well, since we won't be the only Germans that opt for a visit to Paris on a holiday, it'd actually be good to know, if we want to have a chance of still booking an affordable hotel and train ticket. So please let us know as soon as you have decided.

Quoted for truth. After all, me and my girlfriend need to find a place, too.

I don't mind meeting in London (or anywhere closer to where I live

), but anywhere else would be too much of an arse to get to for me since I imagine I'd be going on my own. For future reference

.

werd...
we'll have to arrange one of those again.. that way it'll be better planned. I did a really crummy job of it this time around.. in fact I did the same last time as I announced suddenly I was going to go
but you all had arranged it already so it wasn't as bad
anyway.. we'll see each other again soon.. maybe I'll put off greece/rome again this coming year and just return to see scotland/ireland see the lands of my ancestors

To bad you can't manage to visit Paris this time. I dunno yet if we are going to Paris anyway, probably we will, but maybe not that very weekend, so we have a broader choice of trains and hotels booking in advance.
I've not yet been to Scotland (hope I'll get there one day), but some years ago I've been hitchhiking through Eire, it has a lot to offer in landscape and culture. If you're actually going there, I can maybe recommend one or another sight to you. I've been to Roslaire, Wexford, Glendalough, Powerscourt, Átha Cliath, Newgrange, Tara, Béal Feirste, the Giant's Causeway and the White Bay, Doire, Gaillimh, Luimneach, Caiseal and Corcaigh.
