I always liked the theme to Alternate Reality on the ST. I'm not sure if The Bard's Tale's music was the same on the PC as the ST version. My ST's disk drive is dead, so I can't check. While not as old as those two, Outlaws had one of the best Spaghetti Western soundtracks.

I don't recall the other two you mentioned but Bard's Tale was one of my favorites, both for gameplay and the music.
I only finished the game one time. Sadly, getting to the final fight was difficult, so I had such potent attacks that I blew
the entire group of 'bad guys' to their final resting places without being able to get a chance to see them.

P.S. Remember the room with 4x99 berserkers? Experience points made easy. Great music. Hmmm, the 'dork' ring was a let-down though. :x

Alternate Reality was one of the first real-time RPGs. Outlaws was an American Western FPS based on the Dark Forces engine.

Yeah the dork ring was a let down. Those berserkers were the best source of exp in the game. The saddest part of the game was that you could actually make Mangar, the quote-unquote boss of the game part of your own party with the SPBI spell.

I just remembered a couple of favorites of mine from the Amiga version of Test Drive, and The Duel: Test Drive 2, they had some pretty good tunes for an early 90's computer game.

I also remember some good tracks from Defender of the Crown, also for my Amiga. When I first heard them I was blown away. Of course, my previous computer/game experiences were with the Atari 2600, Intelivision, Vic20, Commodore 64, and Radio Shack computers/consoles, and those didn't weren't cabable of producing decent sounds, except maybe for the C64. In fact, the Radio Shack computer had no sound at all, monochrome display and only about 16 kb memory (RAM). I never would have believed back then that a tiny little smart phone would have more computing power and better graphics then that old clunker.

The warmth and wit of Betrayal at Krondor can be summarized in this here links!

Northwarden Pigs, preceded by Tamney the Minstrels exploits:

The buccanneering adventuristic intro music bursting into horns of dread and then back again:

So much more besides. Betrayal At Krondor is an incredible game as rich as novel and I hope ye enjoy it someday.

Thanks for the Betrayal at Krondor musics.
I remember chests to open with "secret" words. Too easy cheating: Opening the file one could read alll of them, plain text.
Could not finish the game. I got stuck at an intersection with medusas, found no way but, ending turned into stone.

I never heard of Betrayal at Krondar until just now, but it looks like just the sort of game I'd love.

Here's the c64 version of the theme to one of my all time favorites, SuperStar Ice Hockey. I couldn't find the theme for the Amiga version that I have so many fond memories of playing for endless hours, so this C64 version will have to do. Shame to as the Amiga had better sound, but the C64 version was the closest I could find.

My all time favourite game music is Total Annihilation. If i was to go more retro, i always liked the Alien Breed theme on the Amiga... and to go further back, Fairlight on the 48k Speccy. Very good considering what there was to work with.

Ooo, old thread, but right up my alley...
I sadly still listen to a lot of computer game music: and I know, unlike me to ramble on so :)

Back in the day:

RasterScan: (CPC version)

Aliens, US version, dropship (C64):

Mutants: (C64)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO5frjbKqLM original, C64
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D5JeGplnB8 live!

Rambo 3: (C64)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEbFlL_jZ5s

Love this guy, Reyn: just look what he does!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTSUR3RHh9M

And all this fake-80s stuff is cool too: check out the 8-bit artwork!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGqeyQhBPMI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1 ... CB_oGs0Iws

Cube-C stuff is pretty cool, thanks for the link:
SceneSat of course has a host of freebies: lots of trance-based stuff of course, but roots firmly in the 8-bit:

From this, the greatest track I found was this epic 'Firing UP' from 'Maniacs of Noise':

This is still the best game intro evah!:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eds1ivwq1oc

And yes, love the big orchestral FF stuff too: Nobuo Uematsu

ok, ok... I'll stop now. Don't want to kill another thread, :).

The music of "Escape 3 - Zombie Master", a RTC game.
That was more than love, I would say an addiction from the music in loop that keeps punching in the head.

Another addiction is the music of "Airball", an old game on the Atari ST.

Music in loop is pretty brain washing :!:

Airball - good call!
The music was probably the only thing that kept me playing that infuriating game!

Nice - as is the playlist it is part of. How we all envied the Amiga (and C64) audio... Commodore's legacy.

I really like that playlist you've made, Gambit. Black Crypt, Speedball, Xenon 2 and Hired Guns are some of the rare game musics that I listen to without being actually playing the games. Deus Ex and Black Crypt are by far the game musics that i listen to the most. The other songs in your playlist are very nice as well. Two other game musics that would fit well are Speedball II (already named in the topic) and the very nice Crazy Cars III:
- Deus Ex title music + full OST playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm9PJNF ... hJUbBq_2U5 (I also love the 44th)
- Speedball II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrM0hHzM4to

On the Monty theme... I always loved the music to Auf Wiedersehen Monty. Just been playing it on Spectrum emulator, but this is from the C64 version.

Glider Rider was another nice tune on the 64.
