I've been checking out some candy bars from other countries, which are just about unavailable in my country.
Anyone have access to the Flake candy bar (Cadbury)?
The Turkish Delight (Frys) is another I'm hoping to locate.

I'm sure I can find these (for a price) online, but I thought someone might be able to buy them locally,j
and then be kind enough to care to ship some to me in Louisiana.

Any input would be appreciated (unless it's negative or harsh, of course).

We have tons of Cadbury's stuff here (UK) - the Cadbury factory is over here too (though I've not been to visit it, but a few people I know have). And Fry's Turkish Delight (imo the yummiest Turkish Delight around...shame the bars are so dinky) is something we definitely have here too .
It always seems weird to me that you (Americans in general, that is, not you personally ) refer to chocolate as "candy" - when I think of candy, I tend think of boiled sweets, if anything.

I purchased boxes of Cadbury chocolates, years back, with 'rose flavored' (whatever you call it Ameena ) candy, covered in Cadbury chocolate. WOWZER and SHAZAM! Dat wuz gooowee and good.

are those the ones you are looking for? As I mentioned before, you can look across your local canadian border and probably find them there.

I've not had a big turk since I was 11 or so.. and I've never eaten a flake bar, but I've seen them. I used to like 3 muskateers, skor, and coconut bar. But the only one I still touch is the coconut one

We have a "ye olde sweete shoppe" here in BC which imports candy from all over the world, she often has a lot of the stuff that's harder to find.. you may want to check and see if you have any candy enthusiasts in your area.. you might be surprised

Bahh, Cows, that's what you should've done while you were over here for the meet - raided all the choccy shops and tried a bit of everything .

Sadly busy all weekend once again during post office times or I would offer to ship stuff.

I remember goign to america when I was 14 and taking over chocolatefor the people we were visiting, because the taste is indeed different!

I was exposed to british food.. my stomach has never forgiven me... at least not yet. I'm not sure british candy is a good idea

I'm considering a box of Sultan's Turkish Delight I found on the net.

I've noticed the Big Turk bar, as well, but the Sultan's has had a couple of good reviews.
(They actually said it was much better than Fry's)

The 'Flake' makes my mouth water, even though I've never had one.

P.S. I'm not a heavy person, weighing about 175 pounds (U.S. weight), but would consider going to 180 for a bit,
if gorging on fantastic (non-flavourless dirt 'hee, hee') sweets caused such a situation.

thrills don't actually taste like soap, they have a flower extract in them instead of a fruit extract, which makes it have this sort of taste which reminds people of the SMELL of soap but not the taste of soap. There are a few other goodies which use extracts from flowers to flavor their hard candies or even chocolates. However it is an aquired taste I suppose.. but I like them..

I understand that shipping is a difficulty. It seems small packages aren't all that bad.
The bigger ones (like a full case of Flakes ) exceed the small package limit on weight.

It would seem that 'constant sorrow' may be destined to be a part of our lives.

I purchased 3 boxes of Sultan's Turkish Delight. I'm still negotiating a number of milk chocolate covered Flakes, as well.
Looking forward to trying some 'flavourful' dust.

P.S. I visited with a family visiting the area from England, this past weekend.
I understand the English version of the Snickers is even much better than the U.S.A. version.
They both thought the Sultan's brand was superior to the Fry's brand (Turkish Delight).

I found a specialty store in Lafayette (about 20 miles east of me).

Regular Flake...disappointment.

Walker's Turkish Delight slims...less of a disappointment, but I liked the smaller servings.

Nestle's Mint Aero...also a disappointment.

Yorkie...decent bar of chocolate, but the 'American' Symphony is possibly better (good flavourless dust, Gambit. )

Bounty (coconut with milk chocolate covering)...not bad, but the Almond Joy is about as good, if not better (my opinion).

Fry's Turkish Delight...delightful, the gelatin-like inside is more firm, and the rose flavor is more prominent.

Lion bar...now THAT'S a candy bar/sweet.

I may have to spend the night in the hospital, getting introduced to an insulin additive for my future diet.

My most favourite chocolate was... can't remember its name... it was very long time ago, in the 1980s... it was from New Zealand, sent to us by my uncle who lived there, a large table of chocolate with a pattern like on a motorcycle tyre... the most sweet delight of my childhood... although maybe because during communism almost nothing could be imported from the West to Czechoslovakia and most of the eastern goods incl. chocolates was crap, so this chocolate might have been only *relatively* the best (when compared to everything else I used to eat in these times)... but I still think it was the best chocolate I've ever eaten... I think I'll make a trip to NZ and storm local shops!

I love Toffee Crisps...and Galaxy chocolate is yummy (Galaxy Caramel Swirls, NOM ). I agree with you on Lion Bars being yummy too MW . And Mars Bars are quite nice. And Dairy Milk Double Choc bars. Ohh and loads of other stuff .

Hrmmm, anything makes you fat if you eat too much - you've just got to balance it out with exercise. That article seems to be saying that peopel are getting fat from eating too much chocolate. Maybe, but not just chocolate, I'm sure .

I think my greatest 'sweet' memory, as a child, was the Ice Cube. I may have to try locating them.
I tried them later (in High School, I believe), but they weren't as 'melt in your mouth' then.
They actually gave me a sense of 'coolness' as they melted.

Indeed, gvernments can't seem to gte it right - laisse faire then nanny states, there's never the balance about educating then bloody well treating people like responsible adults! In both positive and negative ways!
