How do I change the graphic of a wall item after I have implemented it without deleting the whole lot? And actions associated with it?

As far as I know, this is impossible. I often had to re-build key locks when I decided I liked another graphic better. I also remember a discussion about this, but can't find it right now...

Oh, i thought you could edit a cloned item :(

The easiest way I can think of it to go into notepad and manually change the references

Yep, not possible. As beo noted, you can only edit the text file directly to make these kinds of changes. I did raise this years ago and GG said it was too difficult. I don't really understand why, it seems like an obvious and basic feature?

?!!?
I don't see any problem here. Just *replace* the front(s) and side(s) bitmaps of your wallitem with Add/Replace graphics menu.

That's not the same thing. We're talking about editing a wall item to be a different wall item, once you've placed it in the editor.

For example, you put a blue gem on a wall, gave it 8 linked activating functions, then decide it should be a big switch. There's no way of changing that in the editor without deleting it and starting over, which is a huge pain in the arse if it's linked to many other items.

If you do it your way Linflas, you end replacing ALL the blue gems with switches.

I agree. It SHOULD just be a simple change of item type, the editor should be able to very easily do this... but it just lacks the feature.
