Help With Graphics

I could use some help in creating some custom graphics for my custom dungeon project.

I've tried to paint the graphics myself but my graphics art skills just aren't up to the challenge. If anyone can help please post here and I'll PM you the details of what I need. Basically I need images of a person viewable from 4 different sides. I will give full credit to whoever contributes this image set of course.

I have a great set of events in mind but need the images for this object for these events to work right, otherwise I'll have to redesign this whole part of my dungeon to do without this object.

I would greatly appreciate any help at all, thanks.

Hehe, I can create a bunch of critters in Spore but that's about it - my art skills aren't particularly fantastic ;).

it's the same thing with me, and I have created quite a few creatures in spore too...

oh and 1 adventure or the Galactic Adventures expansion.

Sorry, can't recall if you made this request before, but I have no talents in art :(

if you're talents aren't in art then it may very well have happened. I just hope someone who does have talents in art is interested in doing this, it shouldn't take more then a few hours for someone skilled in art, so... *fingers crossed* I'd hate to have to remove or redesign a great event sequence due to lack of art skills, but if I can't get the images I need I may have to. :(

The alternative is to release it with the cool event and terrible graphics, hoping that someone with skills will go "argh, why is something so cool being done with horribkle art, this will not stand! I shall retire to my drawing room post haste to correct this!" Or something :)

All my spare creative time is spent on my own projects, sorry, I just don't have any extra spare time to help.

Why waste design work that's already done?

I say use whatever you can get, even if it's not what you were hoping for. Your graphics are probably not as bad as you think they are, and even if they are, if the dungeon is fun, nobody cares.

This is true, Conflux used Dm graphics for its initial run...yet somehow, you cxould just feel the potential of the dwarf mines, etc even when everything was the same grey walls.

I wasn't 100% joking when I said you might find an artist - or even just personal art - comes out of the woodwork to donate for a good cause :)

I never get anything done unless I've been paid.. highly unreliable.. my students are demanding and I'm inclined to put a lot of effort into teaching. Though I've loved doing DM related art.. and will probably continue with my own set slowly over time.. I think it was combined by Kelly and added to for DMjava.. so any of that, feel free to use. Monsters are another story though.. I get super picky and never like anything I've made.. :P

I actually have made a few attempts to get this set of images done and just end up getting lost and can't figure out what I need to do next. That's why I posted here to see if anyone can help who is more adept at computer art.

@cows: I'm sure whatever you come up with would be far superior to my attempts.

Artists wanted for Castle Lynchgate RTC custom dungeon:

I have a backlog of custom graphics to go into my custom dungeon project and art is not my forte, and my partner on this project, Chaos-Shaman, is busy working on his Monster AI model right now so I am hoping one of the members here would be interested in helping out. All graphics contributions would be acknowledged accordingly of course. If you're interested please post here and PM either me or Chaos-Shaman and we'll send you the details of what we need in terms of graphics.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am not a Photoshop specialist like Cow. I use Paint for years and well with that. I can draw 3D shapes with that program. I have architecture and mechanical background. If I can help it will be my pleasure. Can I see your work? to know if I'm fitting with your exigence.

a good place to start would be to download the Caste Lynchgate demo here.

Once you've had a chance to play around with that a bit post here, in the Lynchgate thread or PM me and I'll give you both mine and Chaos-Shaman's emails, from there I'll send you the details of what I need for Castle Lynchgate and Chaos-Shaman, who has been doing graphics work already can send you what he already has so far. I did the champion portraits myself, and a couple of other things, but for now most of the graphics are the built-in graphics that come with Return to Chaos (RTC). The storyline and dungeon design is all my work, the AI system for the monsters is based in large part on Chaos-Shaman's monster AI work.

Thank you for offering to help.

Sorry, but I can't open that RTC file. It seems something is missing in my Windows XP SP2. Can you explain how to launch the program.

You need to download RTC itself, then put that RTC file in the modules folder

Its working now, thanks for your help. What is the difference between this new version and CBSwin11_065 I use to play. Should I get rid of the old one and replace by this new one or it’s a custom made only for Lynchgate?

Good work guys :)

RTC and CSBwin are entierly different engines. Keep them both, different dungeons are build on different ones. However Lytchgate will only work on RTC.

In addition to what beowuuf said, there are also some other DM clone engines available here. There's DMJava, and Dungeon Strikes Back which is still in development, but is capable of handling great dungeons already. So basically, if you love games made on the DM engine, you can have all of them and download any custom dungeons you want, just make sure you match each dungeon up with the right engine. If you are feeling ambitious, you could even try making custom dungeons of your own.

clodius, is your avatar Hulk an example of your art, i like it. we need all the bitmaps as monsters have for all the Heroes that will be in Lynchgate. the characters are hired when met live in the dungeon. all you have to work with is their head :)

I did 5 different expressions of Halk last week. I would like to show them and change my avatar frequently. The problem is I cannot upload a new avatar from my computer and I tried to save on Google + recently but I have difficulty to understand how its work. I put Beowuuf map in there and got problem to make it public. When I save something, I cannot quit without loosing my drawings. If someone can help me, I will appreciate.

When I want to post a pic from my computer, I upload it to Flicr and then use the [img] tags to link to it. If you're having trouble with this on Google, you could download your finished projects off of Google and post them to a picture storage site like Flicr or Photobucket and then link to the image you want to use with the [img] tags if it's in a post, or using the link box in your control panel if you're updating your avatar.

My Flicr account is done, My avatar images are uploaded also the map. I need help to transfert (tag) my avatar to DM Forum Profile. That part I don't understand.

ok, first off, to link to an image on flicr, you need to click on the image you want to link to, then when you get magnifying glass icon for your pointer, right click and select an image size, then right click again on your image and select view image, you should have a url that ends in something like - .jpg - .jpeg - .bmp - .gif - etc. in your address bar. Copy that url, and paste it inside [img] tags if you are attaching it to a post or paste it in the appropriate place if you're using it as an avatar (I'll get into that in a moment).

To change your avatar, click on "user control panel", then from the tabs at the top, click on the "Profile" tab, and from the buttons to the left click on "Edit avatar" Then paste the url from your flicr account into the box beside the text "link off site"
