Viva Virtualization!

I have been having some trouble with my Windows PC yet again.
I think the old thing has finally given up... or, at least, I've finally given up on it. :roll:

Fortunately, life goes on, and DSB does too.
I've gotten Windows XP running inside of VMware on my Mac and so far everything's pretty good. The virtual Windows is a little bit slow; most significantly, there's a slight amount of sound lag. However, for the most part, it's completely responsive and DSB itself performs well.

So I feel like development can definitely continue in this environment. :D

Wish you the best.
A little notebook is good enough for development too - and you can test the things with (relativ) low performance.

@Sofia,
May be a fresh XP install would give the same result.
Fresh Widows run well then gradually go bad getting old, from shit apps installs/uninstalls I guess.
Not sure a Virtual XP will not do as a XP.
I am interested to know about the advantages of Virtualisation.

Unfortunately, it's not the kind of problem reinstalling the OS would fix. :(
The computer won't even turn on fully. I think it's a hardware issue with the motherboard or possibly the power supply.
At this point, the thing is around 5 years old now anyway so I say... meh.

Planned obsolescence. :(
Cheap leaky capacitors where it is hot.

...too true. I lost a board because of them too.
