Stuck CSB Win level 5 Blinking teleport

Hi everyone.

I've bee browsing the forums for a while and have not found an answer to this problem.

I've made it to level five and I am stuck where there is a blinking teleport with a door beyond. The problem is after opening the door I am teleported back infront of the blinking teleport. I understand that I need to move quickly to the centre of the door, however It does not seem possible for me to enable the action fast enough.
I have tried slowing the game down to glacial and still their seems no way to get the character to move forward before the teleport comes back on due to ticks. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

You're right, it's purely a quick reflexes puzzle.

Make sure none of your champions are wounded or overloaded. If they're not, then you simply need to keep practising.

Welcome to the forums!

There is a teleporter both before and after the
door. Both teleporters are operated by the same
boulder being whisked about in a confined space.
So you cannot get through both teleporters
on the same move.

Wait until you see the first teleporter then step
forward twice to the center of the door. Move
just after you see the teleporter. You must
not wait for it to disappear, you must anticipate
it's disappearance. Then wait in the doorway
and do the same with the second teleporter.

It is not hard, but it probably takes everyone
a few tries to get it just right. Getting back
out of the room is a bit easier ;-)

There is the same, in Dungeon Master at the level where is the riddle room.
First blinking teleporter, door, second blinking teleporter.
May be it is easier in DM.

This is the exact same puzzle, the request is referring to Dungeon Master, not CSB, despite the title. :-)

Good to know which engine sometimes - I know in RTC you can actually use the mouse on the screen rather than the keyboard and be quicker! But I don't believe this is the case in CSBwin

CSBWin (perhaps rather artificially) limits input to
one per tick of the clock. I don't think there is
anything that can reasonably be done to change this.
I would have to invent a "Clock Doubler" to make it
work faster. Simply too much work for too little gain.

I can't get passed this at all, clearly I'm rubbish lol. i can't get the party to move off the teleport before it reactivates, can't figure out what it is I'm doing wrong have tried hitting move before the teleport dissappears the game still waits before moving the party forward again.

Did you double check that the party aren't wounded? Or overloaded? All their load values need to be displayed in grey. If it's yellow or red, they will be too slow.

Wounds show up in the inventory screen as a red box around a body part. Remove clothing to see if there are bandages showing. If so, brew some health potions and give them to that champion.

haha, oh dear, I feel silly, they were overloaded so wern't moving fast enough hence why It was impossible, to get past the teleporters

Cool, no problem, glad you got it sorted. The overloaded champion is an easy detail to miss and we've all been caught out by it one time or another ;-)

Thanks for the tip, I was close to giving up on it. I didn't realise it made an imapact at yellow. Learn something new and all that :)

Strangely, that puzzle is often the first one newcomers talk about. And the real thing to know about it is the serious impact of party load. Looks like the fist stage of "DM thinking".

Sure it does. A champion in the yellow is slowing down the party.
As long as every champion is not overloaded, I wonder if it makes any difference to carry less weight.
I don' t think so, but who knows ?

Once you've played through the game once or twice, you get to know what kind of stuff you need to take and which you can just leave behind. I generally don't bother with much loot except for the lighter armour types, one flask per character (so, two...and one of those I start with due to character selection), food, chests to store the food, and random bits and bobs like keys, coins, and anything else that's necessarily to open doors/secret walls, stuff like that. I never bother with stuff like Magic Boxes, Storm Rings, and other things that have effects on stuff. I just use Fireballs and whatever weapons my characters have equipped. And doors ;).
