Seriously Unserious wrote:No problem. It's good to see you're still making some progress, even if your paying jobs have slowed things down a bit. Gotta pay the bills, of course.

BTW, are you planing on this being a payed for game, or free? Have you considered raising funds to develop this game through something like Kickstarter or IndieGoGo?

Indded, feeding familly is the most important. However as a freelancer, i have some calm periods, and even not so calm, i still have free time to work on it, just get shorter nights :) But currently i am making an application related to WW2 70 years celebration, and my customer can't publish the application after the celebrations of course :) You how many customers works : always late to start project and taking ages to decide about contents, and once they are reayd, is already late and time to rush !

Well about dungeon Kings, i would dream to make it free. However, it won't : i need it to be success to feed my familly, andalso very important, i need a funds to create the next chapter. I have much more plans that what you'll find in the first chapter, but to pay artists and get all i really want to put into the game (for the second chapter then), i need funds. However, if you'll have to pay on iOs or Steam, i am not sure about Android, as free game on android are more successfull and get wider audience even if i'll need to get money with ads (of course with a pay option to remove them).

Another way would be free, but pay for content (unlocks heroes, unlock alternative path in the dungeon) but i woul really hate to do that, that's not my way to see games  . I would be glad to get your opinion about it thought. So if you guys can give me your feeling about fremimum model for such a game...

I have no problems paying for a game, especially if it shows the sort of quality I would expect for the price being charged for it.

Another model for building a following is to offer a free demo version with features disabled and a full paid version with all features enabled. In other words, try then buy. If you take a look at the project Rasmus is working on, Dwelvers, you'll also see another method that's working well for him, free public alphas and probably betas to gain publicity, followed by a commercial release of the finished game. You can see how his game's progressing on his forum at http://forum.dungeondwellers.net/ or on his website at http://dwelvers.com/. I'm sure he'd be happy to share some pointers with you on how he's been getting such good PR on Dwelvers, which you could find useful for DK.

Just be careful using the initials of your game over there as people would probably get confused and think you're talking about Dungeon Keeper, not Dungeon Kings. :P

the model of free version with features to unlock is kinda close to fremium model. It works fine to get wide audience, but in a way i dislike to sell a game in kit. But it's probably the way to go on Android, you'r right. Thanks for the link about Dwelers, sounds nice.

ah, and about DK, yes, yr right again, ahahah, it seems like DungeonKings takes soo much room in my brain that i sometimes forget about other games :)

I was thinking more along the likes of free demo, payed for full version. This model is more like shareware then fremium. Also, free open alphas and betas are another way to gain attention for your game, as well as get a wider team of testers and more feedback on what works and what doesn't as well as gathering suggestions for features your community would like to see in the game.

If you'd like, I'd be happy to design a forum for your game, which can be linked to from your website, or if your website's server has FTP capabilities I could use PHPBB to design a forum which can be connected to your website via a link. I would just need access to upload the PHPBB files and any themes you want, make any modifications you want to the themes and then you'd have your own forum ready to go. Alternately I could also develop a forum for you on InvisionFree, which offers good forum hosing for free. Just PM me and let me know if you're interested.

Yes you are right, it's more like shareware, nothing force me to sell on a per Item basis. Just unlock once for all more content. It's a good idea.

for sure i i would enjoy it. I was thinking to setup a forum. Just like betas you did mention, feebacks are very important. Sometime i have to make a choice, but seems like talking to myself due to the lack of interested person around me to exchange about a topic related to the game won't be as constructive as a forum or beta :-) And i have already took time to setup the website, i want spend more time on the game iteself, so i you can do that flavor for me, that's will be great !

Thanks !!! :D

Great, I'll get to work on it soon. I sent you a PM so we can continue development discussions in a more private way and publicly post only what we're ready to reveal to the community.

In my opinion this looks better from Grimrock and M&MX

BTW am spot this 53 FPS in corner of image, so am wonder what requirements are for this game?

Well you don't have to worry too much about FPS. I am making video on a rather old core duo 2.6 ghz and ATI 4850 wich is getting old. Also running video capture tool is lowering down frame rate.
About the requirement, well it should run on ANY device. All is juste a matter of fx / render quality. The game will run lower quality if it detects low end hardware. You can also change screen resolution, or choose to not run some postf fx, or disable shadows. I can run the game around 20 fps with full dynamic shadows on a Nexus 7 tablet device, so any pc won't be a problem (except perhaps netbooks :-) )

that sure is the kind of artwork I enjoy kanda, well done. you might want to create a nasty looking character to satisfy all the warriors.
