				Guess the game

As a reaction to the "Favourite one liners" thread - mostly because I've exhausted the one liners I know

  - I've decided to start this "Guess the game" thread.
One gives a famous / favourite quote from a game and the others guess the game. Please, hide your answers in
spoilers so that you don't spoil it for those that come later.
Google is not allowed
  .
So, I'll start with something very easy

  :
"You are likely to be eaten by a grue."

				Ooooh... nice thread!
This will expose my lack of gaming knowledge no end (especially modern ones).
So i'll be the first to embarrass myself by saying that although that sound vaguely familiar, i don't know it

@Chaos: Yes, you're right with the answer, but I can't recognise your quote. Any hints?
Personally, I only know old games - i.e. don't expect me to know anything from 1995 onwards

?
What about this:
"Let the War Begin..."

Dammit, the only ones I knew were the ones CS and Jan guessed! Terkio's doesn't sound familiar and I can't place Jan's new one.
One more easy one: "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee."

In the french version of the game:
J'ai les couilles qui grattent. ( My balls itch ).

No idea. Maybe a game I didn't play, because I probably would have remembered that line. The only thing it reminds me of is the torture scene in Casino Royale. If this was the other thread I would guess that!

				It is War Craft
"I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee."
Krondor?

It opens quite an old turn-based strategy game, in big burning letters on black background, with PC Squeaker making noises reminding... errr.... reminding... noises

 .
I don't know anything about itching balls or arrows in the knees.

Wow, when you guys said you didn't know games from beyond the 90s you weren't joking

That line became quite big on the Internet.
Every guard in the country had some stock phrases they would repeat. This was fine for forgettable lines like "Keep your hands to yourself" or whatnot, but it was very jarring for the very specific quote I gave. It was like every guard in the entire country got their job because of a knee-arrow. So it became a (heavily overused) meme.
I'll leave it for a bit in case anyone else knows it.
I can't think of any old turn based war games for Jan's...

Right, so my quote was from the
Warlords
. Bad, bad, bad guys that you don't know that!

But everyone must know this game:
"We ignore your feeble threats." or, alternatively,
"We laugh at your feeble threats." - I used to click so many times on this item that my finger was as red as a fire engine

  .

Ah... At last! One i know.
Jan's latest is from
Civilization
(and the sequels). I played this to death in the 90s. That line sticks with me because i would constantly
demand tribute for my patience
.

LOL, yeah, you're right. And never
give The Wheel to Chief Stalin and his Mongolian advisors earlier than in 2000 A.D.!

This was such an excellent game even when you take into account various (a)historical inconsistencies and absurdities.

Now that i'm off the mark, i'll try one...
This may depend on which format you played it, so i'm hoping this is fair.
"You Dork!"

				Ooh, new game

. Okay, the arrrow-to-the-knee one is from
Elder Scrolls V (Skyrim)
.
Definitely know that one

.
Let me see if I can think of one...okay, here we go...
"Oi! Nutter!"

Ameena: yes, that's right. I guessed you would know it!
I'm still struggling with all these quotes. I knew a few but other people got there before me, so technically I have yet to get off the mark.

				@You Dork! - don't know
@Yahoo - don't know, can be from a dozen games I suppose
@Oi! Nutter! - isn't it from the
Worms
? I'm not very sure but I remember this excellent game was full of funny lines like that - it entertained us for ages!

I've got a couple of good quotes in my sleeve but don't want to flood the thread with new ones when the older ones haven't been answered yet.

				Okay... I'll reveal.
"You Dork!" is from
The Bard's Tale 1: Tales of the Unknown
. It was synthesized speech when you tried to use the useless
Dork Ring
, but i don't know if this one was fair or not because it might not have done it on some platforms. Definitely did on the ST though.

Ahhh... I've played it but I don't remember the quote.
Alright then, here's my new line:
"Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game."

That would be

Rrrright! So now for something more difficult: "Legends say it is death to gaze upon a Weaver uncloaked."

Jan correctly guessed my one. I've turned up too late to get the "Never pay more..." quote, which I instantly recognised

. I don't recognise any of the current quotes.

				Still don't know "yahoo".
Don't know Jan's latest either. A Weaver...I can't think of any game I played that involved a Weaver.
Since I can't guess any, I'll give one of my own. Here's a cheesy line from a 90s game:
Here's a lockpick. It might come in handy if you - "the master of unlocking" - take it with you.
Fun fact - I sneaked a modified version of this line into the pbp DnD thread. Westian said something like this to Ameena (can't find it now because the thread is archived).
