I decided to make a Discord since a lot of people are doing it. Discord for those who don't know is a Chat service that has both text(like IRC) and Voice. Typical fanfare topics pinned post(rules, links important to the channel). There are ways to make other smileys Which I hope to include as time goes on. You can find out more about discord here https://discordapp.com/ You can multiple logins(I'm using win 8 and keep it running all the time, and use my android phone almost always running at work with no wifi). I noticed a serious lack of chatting and since the IRC Quakenet.org #DungeonMaster has been effectively dead for a lot more then just years I hope this Reinvigorates the online chat options. Open to suggestions, questions and comments I'll check in for a short while here a few weeks i think. Let me know if anyone wants to be a moderator and I'll figure that out.

Cool. I already use Discord so no harm in adding another server to my list, I suppose . Not sure how many people from here will be interested but I'll let Wuffy know in case h wants to stop by - not sure if he uses Discord but will try it anyway.

Do you have video working ?

Video? In Discord? I think you can use webcams in private chat, maybe? Not sure, never tried (and I don't have a webcam anyway). Pretty sure screnshare only works in private calls, not sure about in actual voice channels on a server.

My expectation is to use Discord as an alternative to Skype.
I can do Skype video calls with my smartphone.
I was enable to do so with Discord.
Is Discord, video able ?

Obviously at some point I had hope to stream nexus, but if i don't have the hardware let alone software, doing video is not a big priority, its still small enough that the video thing is doable(10 people its quoted).

I ditched Skype in favour of Discord several years ago and it's a fine alternative - it has text and voice chat just the same and you can screenshare. But I've never tried actual video chat with a webcam because I don't have one (and have no interest in getting one). But Discord definitely has some kind of video availability because I just checked the settings page and it has "Voice and video" as one of the options. So it's there .

I think you just activate video mode when in a call with someone, same as you would screenshare. There'll be an info page about it on the website if you're having trouble.
